Book Overview

Caldecott Honor artist David Shannon is back with an all-new, original board book that lets young readers see what the star of the bestselling No, David books did as a troublemaking toddler.

Oops Did somebody make a mess? Join David as he finds himself in a few sticky situations, and learn his five favorite words along the way. From throwing a ball to riding a tricycle to taking a bath, David sometimes has a little too much fun. But he knows there's nothing better than cuddling with Mama at the end of a busy and exciting day. With the same irresistible humor and vibrant style as his award-winning No, David books, David Shannon takes us back to the early years of his most beloved character. Perfect for beginning readers as well as for the youngest children

   Another David Hit
My 17 month old boy LOVES these books - belly - laughing, pointing, smiling, babbling as we read together. The negative reviews seem to be only negative from an adult perspective and not based on their baby's reaction to the books. Yes, the drawings are a little odd, but not suitable for my toddler. And yes, the books are extremely simple, but these are meant for VERY young children. He likes to turn the page within 3 seconds, so that at this age 2 words are total. In my opinion, it is as if the author was able to climb into the mind of a baby and create the perfect book. )

   Entertaining Book!
This is my favorite book of the 8-month-old son. As soon as I take it off the shelf, he starts laughing. The pictures are little and the one word per page text is just right for the fantastic! I highly recommend '' this book.

   Oops!
Book is very cute! My 3 year old twins would read over and over any David book. This was a huge hit for them.

   horrible
Each page has only 1 word written on it. There is no story behind it.

   Creepy and stupid.
The pictures are just creepy. Here nothing interesting... except those freaky pictures, without which I prefer to live. Brrrrrrrr.

THE ENTIRE BOOK IS ONLY 15 WORDS!!!
I am extremely disappointed, and I feel like I was ripped off ''. A five year old could have written a better book, and I return it. Please don 't waste your time or money...

   The BEST little board book!
I have an almost 2 year old grandson who LOVES the books by No David. His mommy reads one to him at bedtime every night. I recently had the opportunity to read for a week and one of my favorite parts of the day was to babysit to him. I love the illustrations in this series and you essentially make up your own story to go along. There are very few words, but that is the fun part. You can make it as sweet as you like and I promise you that the long or short belly laughs are worth it every time.

   1yo loves them
There is not much to these books, but my 1yr loves them. It is perhaps the drawings or the simple sparse language that is missing. She can 't get enough of them.

   Oops! By David Shannon
I bought this book for my 18 month old grandson, but I think it is so basic that it would make a better very first book at around 6 mos, then taken again for a new reader to practice their skills. I have no problems with books that leave the story up to you ; you can use a little imagination and turn a book into several stories to fit your mood or the day you have. This book is perfect for story telling, it can be used to tell about Little David's day or as a windmill on the day and get ready for bed. I was going to return this book and 2 other books by David Shannon, first time ever, but missed the deadline. There was nothing wrong with this book, it just didn 't fit our needs.
