Do NOT buy the Kindle edition!
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
I was very happy to see that the button on the page was for the kindle edition, I was browsing for a prose translation of Furioso. What do I see after opening it? It's a text copy of William Stewart Rose's translation. Not the Waldman, at all. To make matters worse, the Rose edition is already available for free in the Amazon classics section, as a far superior copy that includes an introduction and summary of Orlando Innamorato. Don't buy from this person. I'm not happy with Amazon linking two different books as if they were the same edition. These products are not the same as one another.

A great addition to my bookcase full of Epics
Derived From Web , Jan 31, 2018
My bookcase is full of epics. It is worth the time and money to read a welcome read that is not as well known to some students of literature.

this prose translation doesn't work well at all
Derived From Web , Jan 30, 2018
Too much. The prose and small print doesn't allow the poetry to breathe. There isn't a sense of fun in the poem.

Classic Italian Epic—prose style
Derived From Web , Nov 15, 2017
In the original Italian, this book is written in couplets. The prose version captures the spirit of the classic epic poem better than the poetic couplet translations. It appears to be an inane, medieval romantic fantasy, but underneath there are many representations relevant to our psychological understanding of people today. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the source material for several operas or a deeper understanding of the human psyche. The stories are for adults. Enjoy it.

Derived From Web , Feb 7, 2017
The translation into English is lovely. He captured the nonsense of the epic with great humor. I was part of the story. Everyone was into the spirit of the story with their individual parts and sense of humor. There is romance, requited love, knights, shipwrecks, damsels in distress, and a Commedia dArte flavor.
