Book Overview

Melody faces her fears to follow her passion in this stunning sequel to the acclaimed, New York Times bestselling middle grade novel Out of My Mind.

Melody, the huge-hearted heroine of Out of My Mind, is a year older, and a year braver. And now with her Medi-talker, she feels nothing's out of her reach, not even summer camp. There have to be camps for differently-abled kids like her, and she's going to sleuth one out. A place where she can trek through a forest, fly on a zip line, and even ride on a horse A place where maybe she really can finally make a real friend, make her own decisions, and even do things on her own--the dream

By the light of flickering campfires and the power of thunderstorms, through the terror of unexpected creatures in cabins and the first sparkle of a crush, Melody's about to discover how brave and strong she really is.

Write Review
Nowhere near as good as Out of My Mind.
This book had nothing to keep me interested and I think some people might enjoy it. I had to buy a sequel to the first book because I loved it so much. I will keep it in my library, but I can't recommend it to my 6th graders.
   Continues to amaze
The book continues where Out if My Mind left off. There is so much more to be said one year later. I am getting new insights into the mind of a student who uses a meditalker.
   Yep I'm crying
It wasn't as powerful as the first, but it was well deserved and delightful. To truly feel the joy of this one, one must read Out of my mind. You could even cry if you do. The tears were good.
   Definitely Recommend!
Out of my Heart is a wonderful continuation of the story of Out of My Mind. To get more context and an understanding of the big event that the main character refers to a few times, I recommend reading Out of my Mind first. I think you could read this book on its own and still enjoy it, as it's mostly a stand alone story about her experience at camp. The writing style makes it easy to read, and it makes you feel like you are in the story. I think this storyauthor is a great choice for everyone.
   I loved it
The second book was even better than the first one. I want to hear more about melody and Noah. It's!
I wanted to love it. But I didn’t.
Out of My Mind has been read five times and shared with my class. We were all excited to hear a new book was coming out. I was very disappointed after reading this. There is no real plot or character development in this book. The first book is nothing like this one. I think my disappointment with the book is that I wanted to like it so much. I wanted to feel her pain and her joy. I didn't...
   Best Camp Book Ever!
Out of my Mind was a summer camp story that I loved. This was a no-brainer. This is a book! My spirit! In the best way. I am a middle-aged stroke survivor, and I can't tell you how relevant this book is. You won't be sorry if you read it.
   Amazing work as always!
I didn't want to put this down. I read the first book to my fourth graders last year. They asked if there was another one. I told them there was not another book with them. I couldn't wait for the book to come out when I heard that Sharon was making a sequel. Needless to say, I ordered it and it was a great read. I loved it a lot. Within the next year, I will create materials to read this in my classes. Thank you Sharon, you are a wonderful author.
