One of my daughter's favorite series
My daughter, a thirteen year old equestrian and avid reader, has devoured the entire Heartland series this past month. This excellent series contains tight and descriptive prose that conveys clear action packed narratives with good morals and interesting characters. Lauren Brooke's series is great entertainment for middle school readers. While they are written for a female middle school audience, this late thirty something year old dad, whose literary tastes favor biographies and histories, has found this particular series quite entertaining in a pleasantly guilt free manner.

Heartland 7: Out of the Darkness
A new horse has been sent to Heartland and he's a famous horse, Gallant Prince. He's damaged emotionally. Heartland is thrust into the spotlight because of his fame. Amy doesn't want to give up the little filly just yet, but it's time for Melody and Daybreak to find a new home. On top of that, there is Ty. At Christmas, they kissed, but what did that mean? She can't wait to talk to him. This was a good book. It juggles a variety of story lines while still being in the Heartland quality. Amy is trying to push back a lot of her emotions, so it will be interesting to see what happens, and to Prince, whose story is only just beginning. Even if it doesn't tie everything together, it is a great stepping stone to the next book.

   ENCOURAGES READING IN TWEEN GIRLS
Half of the battle of getting your child to read is finding reading material that they will enjoy. My daughter loved the book series. She told me that she hid her reading habits from me so I wouldn't judge her for not reading other books. I will call it a win. She is now in her 20s. She has some books.

A gift for my granddaughter. She loves these books ...
A gift for my granddaughter. She likes the books. She adores horses. There are always at least one or two books waiting for her to read.
