Book Overview

This gorgeously illustrated volume of poetry -- sprinkled with facts and fun things to do -- sows an early love for nature in all its beauty and wonder.

The buzz of bees in summertime. The tracks of a bird in the winter snow. This beautiful book captures all the sights and sounds of a child's interactions with nature, from planting acorns or biting into crisp apples to studying tide pools or lying back and watching the birds overhead. No matter what's outside their windows -- city streets or country meadows -- kids will be inspired to explore the world around them. Written by award-winning author Nicola Davies and illustrated by Mark Hearld, a breathtaking new talent in children's books, Outside Your Window is a stunning reminder that the natural world is on our doorstep waiting to be discovered.

One of my all time favorites
I can 't say how much I love it! First off, it looks HUGE at 10x10 ish and is impressive. It isn 't difficult to hold, however, even when snuggling my 3 little imps. I love the seasonal themes, there is even a recipe for blackberry pie in the fall section, along with the poem Berry Picking. Up the path, over the fence... At first, your basket seems to big and then not big enough for berry picking. Back home we make a great, big pie to share our berry picking. Mixed media illustration is super fun with painting, block prints and a modge podge of art forms.

   Beautiful nature book for kids
I was a little reluctant to purchase this, but I'm so glad I did. The book is divided into each of the four seasons and includes short poemsstories on each page. The pictures are beautiful and my children thoroughly enjoy it. We put this in our daily morning basket and read a new page every few days during the corresponding season. A beautiful book to have in your child's library.

   Good book - wonderful pictures.
This is a good book about nature and seasons. The lyrics are written in prose, but does not rhyme. The pictures are very interesting with many pages made with collages. The book also has some activities and recipes. The children love this book but don 't love it for some reason. If you find my review helpful, mark it.
