My favorite childhood book
Derived From Web , May 23, 2022
Filled with beautiful illustrations, a captivating story that will fill any child, boy or girl with wonder and create a great appreciation for the grandeur of the Great Lakes and the lore of northern Canada. I am a 70 year old woman who still remembers well and was delighted to discover it is still available in print form and still available on Amazon. com. I just sent a copy to my son-in-law, who lives on Lake Erie and he loved it! It is a treasure!

I read this book for the first time fifty-plus years ago and never forgot it. With a wonderful story and outstanding illustrations, it is still the best book on Northern Michigan and the Great Lakes ever written.

I have had this book since the first issue came out. Loved the story and recently enjoyed the experience when we drove through the town on Lake Superior, where the story begins. I gave my old worn copy to my son, who has 4 boys about my age, when my grandmother gave it to me. I bought the new one to give to my other son, my eldest boy. His three children will read it and learn about the Great Lakes and people. It is a great story for kids with lots of lakes and living as sub-surface extras in that era. I am now 82 and the story is still good.

Best kids book I've ever read. Is very cool and has northern geography. I bought it twice.
Derived From Web , Mar 12, 2021
I bought this book 30 years ago and read it to my son and now I bought another for my granddaughter. Immensely cool concept that makes it both entertaining and fun and also very inspirational for learning geography. I would read it to a 2 year old, though they wouldn't understand it fully. And if I had never children, I read it as an adult. I recommend it for ages 2 -- 102. The best children's book I have ever seen or read.
