What is your calling as a parent?
In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything right and raise up good children, it's easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.
In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God's plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God--grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.
Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children's hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.

I love this book! Tripp wrote great writing. The book will help parents. It reminds the reader that they are lost and need a Savior. I got the book quickly on Amazon. It was packaged well. The audio book was helpful for car-rides.

Read Slow For Full Effect
Derived From Web , Feb 27, 2018
This book isn't practical. The book is about ministry for parenting. In this book, it is helpful to know how our child's greatest needs are also our greatest needs. We are like our children more than we want to admit. If you're looking for a primer on why God has called you to raise children, this is the book for you.

Less formula and more perspective
Derived From Web , Feb 13, 2018
This book has given me perspective, and I think I need a formula instead of that. Tripp gives us the perspective we need, drilling down into the Gospel and its implications for parenting. Ted's Shepherding Your Child's Heart is great, but I think there's more to it than that. When I read that the book was less practical, I thought it was great, but I really need practical things. It's less practical and leaves me more reliant on God's timing and grace as I've been forced away from loading my formula with unrealistic expectations. If you have to start with one of the books, go with this one.

Excellent devotional

The book exposes my heart, but it does not leave there. The true joy found in Christ alone is what turns me on. This devotional is the best I have ever read.
