The book was very helpful to me as we had a child with borderline personality disorder. I wish I had more when she was a young child.

   Very helpful
I read a few different books trying to find ways to parent my highly emotional, sensitive child more successfully. This one did the best job of helping me understand the issue, accept the limits of what she and I am capable of and accept my child for who she is while also trying to help her improve her behavior. It provided some practical strategies for how to respond to consequences and rewards to help shape her behavior and how to use emotions in the moment during her outbursts.

   Basic DBT for parents
This book paralleled the NAMI class I took through DBT. If your child has emotional dis-regulation and is diagnosed as borderline personality disorder, you must learn DBT, and this book will be a great tool for you.

Read this book before you seek a medical solution to o had to handle kids.
As the grandparent of an overly emotional, often violent child and as a person who was himself highly emotional, I found this book to be a significant bridge in my understanding and ability to help my grandson through what is clearly his burden in life.

   Great resource for parents
My daughter has traits of borderline personality disorder and so I have tried to help her with DBT techniques, and the change in her has been nothing like a miracle. The happy, joyous child I hoped could be has come out. I have actually used these techniques for a while, so that for me it was more reassurance and validation, but I found this very practical and helpful guide. My daughter moved from utterly scary and just overwhelming and outright scary mood swings to essentially normal '' emotions for a child of her age.

This book is worth the money
I have read many books for my child, who has autism. Making the suggested activity chart that was included in this book helped our family.
