First chapter is dry (or worse)... but keep reading!!
Derived From Web , Feb 14, 2022
The doctrine that Jesus died in order to pay the penalty for our sins so that we don't have to pay it ourselves is a really thorough presentation. The first chapter is extremely dry. The biblical overview, theological framework, and historical survey are some of the helpful parts of the doctrine. It's nice to have all of it in one book. The appendix has a list of questions that help anyone who is trying to convey the doctrine through analogies to think carefully about how simple analogies can be misinterpreted. I had to read it for the class.

Perfect Resource
Derived From Web , Feb 4, 2018
I bought this book to give a friend a resource to understand substitutionary atonement. Everything I was looking for was covered in this book. It was well- researched and well- footnoted, and the tone was one of making a strong argument without being offensive. It was important for me to find something that wouldn't undermine my friend's views. I am grateful to the authors for their excellent work, and I was so happy to find this book.
