Book Overview
In the tradition of the beloved New York Times bestsellers Marley and Me and Oogy: The Dog Only a Family Could Love, a charming, inspirational memoir about empathy, resilience, kindness, and an adorable deaf blind pink dog.
When Connecticut veterinarian Melissa Shapiro gets a call about a tiny deaf blind puppy rescued from a hoarding situation in need of fostering, she doesn't hesitate to say, yes. Little does she know how that decision will transform her, her family, and legions of admirers destined to embrace the saga of the indomitable pink pup. One of the most anxious dogs Melissa had ever encountered, the traumatized Piglet weighed under two pounds upon his welcome into the Shapiro household--which included Melissa's husband Warren and their three college-aged kids, plus six other rescued dogs. After weeks of reassurance, and lots of love, Piglet connected, gained confidence, and his extraordinary spirit emerged. Melissa soon forged a powerful bond with Piglet, allowing the two to communicate without sound or visual cues. Two months later, when the day arrived to say good-bye to the now dashing, six-pound pink boy dog with the larger than life spirit, Melissa faced a heart-wrenching decision. Could she hand him over to someone willing to give Piglet the full-time attention he required or Read More chevron_rightFrequently Asked Questions About Piglet: The Unexpected Story Of A Deaf, Blind, Pink Puppy And His Family

New York Times best-selling author Michael Lewis says the whole book is inspirational. This family has done an amazing job with all the rescues, Melissa said. This book is highly recommended for anyone who has ever had an interest in animals. The CD has an audio version. I've read so many books about dogs, this is my favorite, it's real life and the family is absolutely endearing, Morgenthau said.

What an uplifting read, I laughed and cried. Most of the book shows how much a little dog can do to help the world be more accepting and shows perseverance.

A delightful read and audio!

I have both the book and have listened to the audio. It's great to hear Piglet's story from his favourite mom and dad. The Shapiros have wonderful stories of discipline, perseverance and a sense of humor, said Dr. Goin. If you have a spark of interest to know about the piglet mindset, get one or all of the options offered, and live the journey........., you won't be disappointed. Thanks to the entire Shapiro family for sharing Piggy Lee and guests with us all.

An amazing story of love, compassion, and the power of a Piglet Mindset!
Derived From Web , Aug 16, 2021
When I was asked to do the book, I thought the pink man would be the only star. The rest is just mechanical, I must have missed something. There will never be a way to thank people like the Shapiros who dedicate themselves to love the “unloveable†and give them their best lives, Tunick said. There are truly selfless people in this world, Grace said. May God bless you all.

Hard to put it down!
Derived From Web , Aug 15, 2021
When I started following him on social media, Piglet was immersed in the family story. The book was wonderful, full of lots of interesting details about a family who opened their lives up to a lot of physically imperfect animals, Morgenthau said. I passed the book on to my son, who is a social worker in an elementary school, hoping he would find it inspiring. I am so curious as to how the family kept their house clean with birds flying around and seven dogs, Mrs. Dhaliwal said. Only in the book did I find all my questions about this remarkable family of humans and animals. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys animals.

Piglet will capture your heart
Derived From Web , Aug 12, 2021
A dedicated veterinarian and her family turned an unwanted deaf and blind puppy into an ambassador for hope and positivity. Through patience, love and encouragement, Dr. Shapiro teaches Piglet a series of taps and other signals that emphasize the senses that he does have, rather than the ones he is lacking. This book is a must read for all dog lovers.

A truly touching story
Derived From Web , Aug 10, 2021
This book is not only heart warming but completely engaging, McCaskill said. It was such a good read, I almost couldn't put it down. This is not just a "dog person" book, it reaches all levels and is the most uplifting and encouraging message. We can all be uplifted, said Dr. Goin.
