The beloved story of a spunky young girl and her hilarious escapades.

Tommy and his sister Annika have a new neighbor, and her name is Pippi Longstocking. She has crazy red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do, a horse that lives on her porch, and a pet monkey named Mr. Nilsson. Whether Pippi's scrubbing her floors, doing arithmetic, or stirring things up at a fancy tea party, her flair for the outrageous always seems to lead to another adventure.

A rollicking story. --The Horn Book

Every Family Should Have This Book
My two daughters, both bookworms, love reading about Pippi and her unique view of the world. Each chapter reads as a story, all its own. My 6 year old LOVES Pippi so much that she dressed as her for Dress as your Favorite Character Day at school.

   A great classic!
So I decided to purchase this book as a bed time story, and the kids really enjoyed it. I also followed it up with the 1988 film version which I remember loving, even though it was mostly a children's story. It was still fun and had some small fantasy aspects, Glover said. A good book, by a good writer. It's great to be back home, said Blair.

A long time favorite staple in any kid's book collection
The book arrived on time and was great. It was in pristine condition, like it came off the press, Tunick said. It was a birthday present from my niece. Her mother, Ethel, also was a huge fan of the time.

Best of the Best for Children's Books
I recommend this book to anyone. The whole thing is a parody, Mr. Rule told the judge. It has the perfect sense of humor for ages 5-11, Mr. Rule told the judge.

As a kid book it still holds up
My daughter and I are both reading this book together. She is enjoying the story just like I did as a kid, Mr. Dhaliwal said. That's my old dad.

Pippi: a heroine for our time!
I've had a soft spot for Pippi since I was a kid. This is a great novel, more a set of short stories. He is very anarchic, and demonstrates the capabilities of 9-year-olds, albeit in an exaggerated way, said Dr. Goin. She is kind, stands up top both adult and child bullies, and requires everyone to treat her like herself rather than an example of a class. This is a heroine for both boys and girls, my husband also loved these stories as a kid. Very good customer service, recommend.

   Problematic/Warning if sharing with children
I'm not ashamed to admit that I loved Pippi Longstocking as a kid, and I was excited to share this with my elementary-school-aged daughters. I skipped over a few parts, he said.

Great chapter book for an early reader
My 6 year old daughter is a pretty advanced reader, so we struggle finding books that are challenging enough, or take her more than a few days to finish, but still have content she can understand and is appropriate. This book is also very good.

I would not recommend this book for children
If you think this book is for children, I would not recommend it. It has very strong negative connotations about people of different cultures and religions. For instance, there is one chapter where Pippi appologizes for lying to her new friends, saying she stayed in the Congo for too long because there is not single person who tells the truth. I was horrified when I read this with my 7 year old.

   funny, self-reliant
Pippy is strong, witty, self-reliant, and so entertaining, Morgenthau said. From the creators of the award-winning "Pinocchio" series comes a new set of books featuring lovable little girls all over the world. I first read the book to my son when he was 5. He would like to see the book done one more time. It's great to be back home, said Hepburn, "and I don't miss this classic character."
