Beautiful, but poorly made.
Derived From Web , Feb 9, 2022
Is that content- wise? I agree with the reviewers. It's poorly made. A few of my friends have more than one copy, but I have one and so do 3 of them. The binding has come apart and they are all falling apart. All of us treat our books with the utmost care, but the pages are falling out. It's very bad. One of the MMs in the group is doing the same thing as the 3 copies of the DMG that we have. The books are written well, but the books themselves are not. I'm thinking of putting all the pages in a binder.

Great ruleset but poorly designed book, IMHO.
Derived From Web , Jan 16, 2020
I ordered the Player's Handbook to get familiar with the game because I haven't played in a long time. The 5 th edition ruleset was very different from what I remember from 25 years ago. The rules are definitely better than the earlier ones. The charts are completely disorganized and you have to flip back and forth to different sections to fill out the character sheets. It would have been hard to put all the charts in one place. It seems like so. I bought the DandD Beyond version to be able to quickly search the sections in my tablets, which is much easier than using the poorly designed Tome. I ended up paying more than I needed to. I went to a local store and they wanted $50 for the book, which I would never pay, so I appreciated the Amazon price.

5E.. For people who want simple bad rules.
Derived From Web , Apr 21, 2019
There is nothing I dislike more than clunky rules in a game. I was looking for a rule set that was a bit less expanded than 3.5E but still had the ability to cover basics that the majority of groups would attempt. The system is a failure. It is a bit more enjoyable than 4E. That is the best I can give. After a few short sessions with a group that has been playing for 20 years we are all left wondering if this is a weird version of the game. The rules are written in a way that makes us wonder what the designers were thinking. A fun streamlined version turned into a class of DandD.

Great game, horrible printing
Derived From Web , Mar 12, 2018
DandD 5e is a good game but there are some serious issues with the printing of the books. Three of us had pages that were warped when we got this book. It almost looked like it had been damaged, but I don't think that is the case. According to other reviews, this is a common issue with 5e books, such as the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual. A lot of people are getting copies that have the cover attached upside down, because the pages are warped, binding is off center, and the guide has a cover that is upside down. I would love to give this a higher rating, but until they can fix whatever is causing all of these books to be garbage quality, I just can't.

Wizards quality assurance team is lacking!
Derived From Web , Feb 27, 2018
The quality assurance team is lacking. When I bought this book, I noticed some of the pages were bent and stuck together at the top corner. The page cuts were off when I separated them. Don't buy anything. You can just download.
