Book Overview

The tale of the sea king's daughter Ariel is a beloved one of losing-and then finding-one's own voice. The story has been told many times and in many ways. But always the mergirl wants more than her world can offer, and her father demands that she live within the confines of his domain. Her rebelliousness costs the little mermaid her voice and nearly her soul. But the power of good prevails, and Ariel emerges proud and unchanged.
And yet this is only half the story. So what of Ariel's nemesis, Ursula, the sea witch? What led to her becoming so twisted, scorned, and filled with hatred? Many tales have tried to explain her motives. Here is one account of what might have shaped the sea witch into a detestable and poor unfortunate soul.

   I loved this book
If you' ve been reading in chronological order. This book is great. I have read a few bad reviews about this book and how other readers do not like the other characters. The next book Maleficent will reveal more about who the characters are and what role they have played. It was interesting and enjoyable to read. Everyone knew that Ursula was in the book. It wasn't a full on back story of her, but the author did give you a glimpse of the back story of Ursula and why she turned out this way. King Triton isn't as he seems. There are other characters that add to the story. This book should not be dismissed quickly. I liked the author's characters and Ursula's back story.
Whole book not about Ursula, Good story other wise!
I' ve read the evil queen, the beast within, and now Poor unfortunate soul in this book series. The books are good. This book had a lot more stories in it than just dealing with Ursula, so it was a little different and unique. It was a good and enjoyable read, and it held on to my attention. There are three different stories going on at the same time, but they all feed into the main story. I assumed it was going to be a unique experience because it is the shortest one I have read so far. Just don't expect the whole book to be about Ursula, over all a good story and a pleasure to read. A lot of it is about her, and other dealings as well.
   Skip It
I was expecting this to be similar to Wicked, but we were wrong about Ursula being the villain. She was worse than the movie portrayed her in the first couple of chapters. I did not get through more than the first 30 pages. Not what I was expecting or wanted to read.
Poor Unfortunate Us to read this disaster of a book
I didn't like this book at all. Ursula has always been one of my favorite villains and this novel was a total bore. It didn't capture her personality and didn't make for an interesting read. I put the book down several times because it was difficult to read. The story of Ipswich and why she hated humans, that was almost worthy of the read, was the only positive aspect. It was a lot of thoughts that made the pages bleed. If you love Ursula, don't ruin your idea of her by reading this.
