Helps you build conceptual intuition
Derived From Web , Nov 17, 2021
This is the best book I have read. The practical application of statistical concepts to data is emphasized by the authors. There are too many statistics books that follow a traditional coverage path. This is perfect for people who prefer to understand the meaning behind statistical tools and applications before they get to the mathematical weeds. If you prefer a more bottom- up approach then you can skip this.

BAD PRINT
Derived From Web , Jul 13, 2021
The book was supposed to be a new one. This is something the seller should have caught. On page 114-115, it looks like the publishing page cutter got crimped, so that the book pages were as seen on the photos. You don't have time to send back another one. Disbelief.

Seriously Great Book
Derived From Web , Jun 10, 2021
I wish I'd found this book before I took the classes I have at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I picked this book up because it was a good primer for what I learned in those courses, and it is very readable and has great further readings. Completely blew away.

R, yes. Python, not so much
Derived From Web , Feb 28, 2021
The book is thought out and the explanations are sound. The subtitle makes it appear that the book covers both R and Python equally. The reality is that the R programming language is more important than the Python code is.

Unhelpful

Code provides little or no explanation for the underlying data, which makes it hard to reproduce.

Python content much worse than R content
Derived From Web , Dec 6, 2020
When I was using R, I read through a previous version of this book and it was amazing. I' ve read one of the better books about statistics. I was very pleased to see that they released a version with Python content. I' ve been very disappointed. The statistics content is still great, but the Python code is often missing comments and doesn't run properly. The book is a good primer on the data that a data scientist needs, but don't expect the code snippets to provide much guidance.

Very useful book
Derived From Web , Aug 30, 2020
The book is very useful for beginners. If you know another language, the presence of code in R and Python will help you understand it.

Quality Content, Bad Printing
Derived From Web , Jun 23, 2020
The book's content gets a 5 star rating. I appreciate the author's use of Python. This book was printed in black and white by O' Reilly. It's not acceptable for a $50+ book where you need to be able to distinguish between colored lines.
