In Pumpkinheads, beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Rainbow Rowell and Eisner Award-winning artist Faith Erin Hicks have teamed up to create this tender and hilarious story about two irresistible teens discovering what it means to leave behind a place--and a person--with no regrets.

Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends.

Every autumn, all through high school, they've worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world. (Not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is.) They say good-bye every Halloween, and they're reunited every September 1.

But this Halloween is different--Josiah and Deja are finally seniors, and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together. Their last good-bye.

Josiah's ready to spend the whole night feeling melancholy about it. Deja isn't ready to let him. She's got a plan: What if--instead of moping and the usual slinging lima beans down at the Succotash Hut--they went out with a bang? They could see all the sights Taste all the snacks And Josiah could finally talk to that cute girl he's been mooning over for three years . . .

What if their last shift was an adventure?

   Cute but woke
The plot is predictable, but cute. The main characters have a nice friendship, which is the main positive element and gives the story a major boost. There is certainly nothing wrong with having a chubby character, but this girl is obsessed with junk food on top of it. And then the characters are going to buy more treats after they skipping the work they were hired to do. She is also bisexual and has dated half the males and females on staff, apparently. Like much of the YA lit these days, it seems more about checking identity boxes and pushing a progressive agenda than anything else. And I'm guessing that it is the main reason why it has been hyped. A potentially great story is stuck in the ethical morass of identity politics.

Amazing, sweet and such a fun story!
The fall is my favorite time of year and I love all the delicious foods to have, especially autumn soups, apple cider and just about any pumpkin flavored food or drink. This book is the setting of a place I would love to live near and full of all the wonderful things I would expect from such a place to offer. Their adventures were so fun to read and the ending was wonderful! I really hope that there will be a sequel someday, as I want Deja and Josiah more!

   Read for the Artwork Only
I admire faith Erin Hicks'work and her art is just ADORABLE and the best part of the book. The story is short, and could serve as a good comfort reading for the autumn, I suppose. But it is completely missing in originality and is annoying in the sense that SPOILER is BELOW!!! The black friend character ends up being the sidekick turned love interest that was all over under his nose. A boring romance trope and especially disappointing when the girl who has been unnoticed the whole time is black and has been running herself ragged for the entire book trying to help this dumb boy get his life together.

   Fun book
The illustrator is Deja and has such a great way of drawing body language that you get what Faith Erin Hicks is thinking even if she doesn 't speak it. There is a cute goat that runs through the entire story, as well. This is basically the story of two friends who work together at a harvest festival every year but are now going away to college. It is their last night, and Josie is trying to get the nerve to talk to the girl he pined for for the three years. And so he sets off on his quest to run into the Fudge girl casually. At first, it feels like a tour of a harvest festival. But as the story progresses, you realize that there is more to it. It is a fun read and I hope that Rainbow and Faith do more books together.

   So fun!
Not something you see a lot of! This was a cute story about friends who have been patch friends and it is their last autumn together. They're seniors and go to college the following summer. I really enjoyed this graphic novel ''. The artwork was colorful and fun and bold and so colorful! Might have to read again when the air becomes crisp and the leaves start to color prettily! New England - Autumn loves! This collab between Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks is a joy. I am already on the RR train!

   Adorbs
Friends don 't let friends live small lives, this graphic novel was just so stinking cute. I am not much for graphic novels ; I find them difficult to follow for some reason, but I enjoyed this. The story follows Josiah and Deja, who are best friends, but only when seasonal workers are at the Pumpkin Patch. This is their last day - it's Halloween and tomorrow the Pumpkin Patch will be just an abandoned field. It is Josiah's last chance to talk to the girl who sells fudge, to whom he has never spoken, but feels could be the one. Shenanigans of the fall ensue. In the end, Deja might realize that the mission is not what he thought it was, after all. Josiah is hilarious. I love autumn and this really got me pumped up for the upcoming season. It was a lightning fast read that put a smile on my face. Rainbow Rowell is a hit or miss for me, but this story worked. Recommended :
