Great book to educate potential puppy owners... would reccomend getting before you get the puppy.

Before I got a puppy, I read this book. My chocolate lab is almost 10 weeks old and already knows sit, lay down, come, stand and is working on potty training, she said.

great!
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The book is intended to be read just as you get your puppy, the first chapters are on the very first things to start working on with your puppy and the later chapters after that build on it. Good exercise, too, Mr. Dhaliwal said. Common puppy behavior problems. They include digging, chewing, mouthing, potty training, and lying down. This is a step by step beginning training guide. However, I think Puppy LovePuppy is a more complete reference book that covers all the puppy topics and all about having a puppy. If you can get both, I recommend it, because there's almost no overlap.

Puppy response better to this training
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
My puppy is much more interested in training than I was when I read the book. The other methods did not work well and made her worse with her bitting, the report said. It depends on the breed of dog or puppy. Do not try Cesar's methods on your puppy.

Highly recommend this book
Derived From Web , Dec 7, 2020
We are getting a puppy and I was looking for a book that would help us to have some information about training your dog or correcting behavior, so we can have a good attitude toward it, too, he said. Like the book, I really enjoy reading it. It seems like there are no complicated instructions, and the style of writing is easy to read. This book would still be a good fit for an owner of an older dog who wants to teach their dog some tricks or corrective behavior, said James Slover, a former journalist who teaches dog obedience classes at the academy.

Nothing Groundbreaking
Derived From Web , Nov 11, 2020
This is a useful manual if you know very little about puppies -- if things like taking the remote TV out of their sightline wouldn't normally occur to you. If you've owned dogs before, you won't find much new information here. The book looks and feels like a workbook, although the author admits that this is not necessarily the case. It's not intimidating at all, even though it's larger in size and doesn't have many pages, he said. The book format is large on each page and chapters are broken into short headers and sub-headers. This would be a good training manual for children in families to read so they can feel like they are participating in raising a new family dog, he said.

All the basics and some good long-terms steps... Great for a puppy in an apartment!
Derived From Web , Mar 30, 2020
I knew most of the basics, but I had never got the original family dog to have good manners. I bought this book in the hopes of having a well-behaved dog in my apartment. This material will help you through the initial pain points of living with your new puppy. Good training to have good long-term behaviours, he said. Many of the common problems that are often considered late are treatable. Whether you have had a dog before, are contemplating getting a puppy, or have just got a puppy, this is a great place to start on the road to becoming a good citizen.

Good instructions

Excellent program. It could be improved a little with more realistic training times, Mr. O'Neill said. Really like the fact that the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Easy read. Author's credentials are legit. A must for first time puppy owners.
Derived From Web , Feb 22, 2019
This book is highly recommended reading. Patricia McConnell is a certified applied animal behaviorist, having earned a PhD in zoology and a Masters in behavioral science from Carnegie Mellon University. It's just that you don't want to put that down. The book is an easy read, and doesn't bog you down with science jargon. Easy to follow, the instructions are spot on and the information is readily available. Yes, it is set up as a program starting when you first bring your puppy home, but the police won't come to pick him up if you don't do everything in order. Whether you're about to get your puppy or you got them a month ago, this book is one of the best you can get.
