   Pretty good, sometimes index lacks
I often refer to this as I am learning Python and it usually gives me the answer, but sometimes it takes a bit of searching and flipping back and forth. The organization could be better. If you don't know Python's word for a concept, alternate words won't help you find it. If you want to copy an object, or assign the contents of one object to another, you' re trying to find the Python way to do that. The index doesn't have entries for copy or contents. It does have an entry for assignment statement, but it only assigns an object's reference to another variable, so you have two variables pointing to the same object. How would you find what you' re looking for if you already knew it? I understand that they are trying to keep a pocket reference small, but a few more details examples wouldn't hurt.

Python is like PERL or Java or C
Like PERL or Java, Python is a programming language. The reference remembers everything. This has helped me because I know that there are differences between Python 2.x and 3.x and that I need to know them before I lose my mind trying to get something running. I have many references for different languages. Storage Bob is a person.

Great reference unless the book is put together weird.
I bought this book to use as a reference while I take my class, but when it came in part of the book was not put together correctly. I don't have time to return the book since I need it. The book is in great condition, but it's annoying.

High quality, but not so useful
I bought the book because I wanted to learn computer programming. I never used it because it was written well and worth the money. I only needed a few key strokes to know everything I needed to know about Python. I gave it away because it was hard to find things in this book and it was easier to find them on the internet.

   Not a real pocket reference
I don't refer to it because it's just a collection of tidbits about Python and not a comprehensive reference. Python is an open source project and it is moving. It was an act of pure optimism to think this book could be a real reference.

Not for beginners, Great for heavy coders
Over the past 6 months, I code this book as a hobby, and have used it only a few times. There are differences between version 3.4 and version 2.7 of the Python language. The book is written for someone who has an in- depth knowledge of computer science, and although I have a degree in such a field, I have only started using Python since buying the book. The book is a reference and not something to be read in the evening.

   A disappointment - Inappropriately titled
I got this book because I was looking for a pocket reference for Python. I am working with the latest version of Python, and have just started learning it. There is a lot of information in this book about older versions of Python. This is like buying a new automobile, and in the owner's manual there is information about how this car is different. I don't want to learn anything else. The title of this book is inappropriate. If you' re making a reference, make sure it references what people are learning and using.

Python 2 / 3. Get a Python 3 only book if you can...
There is interwoven python 23 knowledge that is in the way of progress. A lot of time is spent talking about the differences between P23. If I knew this was filled with examples in differences and extra space was spent on P2, I would have bought a 3- only book.

Recomended. If you are looking for a reference - this is a good choice. It is not a text book or a learn how book
It is nice to have it in a handy bound reference book, but most of it is available on line. If you' re looking for a reference, this is a good choice because I like to have at least three book on any subject that I'm learning or using on an ongoing subject. It is a reference book, not a text book or learn how book.
