I love this story and appreciate the illustrations. It was one of my favorite sons, so i bought this hard board version for my grandson. I'm very disappointed to find out that the first piece of the story is also the cover that interrupts the rhyming. But most disappointed that the original cover of the book does not contain all the illustrations in the last book. I loved how you can spot all the animals in the original room in the final page... but the room is not shown on this final cover.... all to save a little money, I suppose, but really ruins the ending of this story. The next time i will not opt for this edition and I do not recommend this particular edition of this charming story to anyone!

I love this book ''. We read it several times on a daily basis. My 3 year old can literally read it to his little brother. I actually went to a short '' literacy class on children's books and read this one as an example of a good selection. Its simplicity is attractive, but it also uses words that are a little less common in a preschooler's vocabulary.

We love cricket just as a quickie. My kids are 28 - 24 years old, and this book was their favorite book. I still use this book for every baby shower that I attend. Book is awesome!

This is the book I reached for whenever I felt like I needed to deliver this message to my son. People can feel all kinds of things. Sometimes, you can feel angry. One can be scared. These are all acceptable parts of a spectrum of who you are. And that you do not feel shame about it. You can be all these things and you do not negate them. You can be as mean as a shark and then go back to being weak as a kitten. No matter what you feel, you can still be you and I love you unconditionally. At the end of the boy saying, put it all together... ME! I know that I've transported us to a place where we can more accepting ourselves. I often pair this with the book called I Love You, because you're there .

sent a folded paperback picture book...really?

A little while ago I found a front package on my small steps and couldn't understand what it could be. That is because it was a paperback - picture book folded in half. Why anyone would think I ship it this way to me '', is beyond me. It is a no-brainer that it should have been folded in a small postal machine, not mailed in half and placed in a flat mailer. If I order a new book, I expect it to be folded in new condition, not new in 12. I am not sure how anyone would expect a teacher to be able to fold the book for a read aloud with folded pages that the students wouldn't be able to see.

A truly wonderful book for children, especially for little boys. Ending creatively. A favorite of all my children and their cousins back in the day. I now love giving it for baby gifts because no one else does!

Great children's story, terrible reprint

When I was a child, I loved this story. It was one of my favorite all-time favorites! Unfortunately, the original illustrations I remember looking at in the beautiful way are not at all the same in this reprint. Some of the pictures are oversaturated with yellow, while others are undersaturated and look sprayed.
