Book Overview

One of the most beloved and trusted mindfulness teachers in America offers a lifeline for difficult times: the RAIN meditation, which awakens our courage and heart

Tara Brach is an in-the-trenches teacher whose work counters today's ever-increasing onslaught of news, conflict, demands, and anxieties--stresses that leave us rushing around on auto-pilot and cut off from the presence and creativity that give our lives meaning.

In this heartfelt and deeply practical book, she offers an antidote: an easy-to-learn four-step meditation that quickly loosens the grip of difficult emotions and limiting beliefs. Each step in the meditation practice (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture) is brought to life by memorable stories shared by Tara and her students as they deal with feelings of overwhelm, loss, and self-aversion, with painful relationships, and past trauma--and as they discover step-by-step the sources of love, forgiveness, compassion, and deep wisdom alive within all of us.

   Practicing RAIN
Tara's explanation of the practice of RAIN is the perfect addition to my meditation practice. Dealing with life's curveballs can take you way off track from what your expectations are. Giving ourselves the starting point to widen the circles of compassion for ourselves will give us the starting point to heal as a society and open our hearts to those who are different from ourselves. This book has all the instructions you need to begin the process.

A brilliant book for the times we live in
I've had a lot of books, but this one stands out because of Tara Brach. I became more deeply aware of how to deepen self compassion and saw ways to cut through the clutter of others. This is a book filled with stories that touched my heart and helped to drive home the material that she is presenting, she said. There is so much in this book that applies to the times we are in right now, he said. What a difference a compassionate heart can make, without becoming overwhelmed, said Dr. Abraham. It's great to have such a good product, recommend it to anyone.

Tiny Print. Baby Boomers are going to need large print offerings.
I got it on the radio, Tunick said. I'd prefer it not be heard, Mr. Rule told the judge. Big book publishers, and authors, of best-selling books are going to have to offer large print versions of them more, and more. Tara Brach is a front-runner, I suggest, as she wants us to be kind to ourselves. If I had read this, I would not have been kind to my eye health trying to read it. Material Requirements: All books must be accompanied by a large format photograph. Thanks for the support.

   Review
I've read all her books. This one is great, too. It was a while coming, but I was waiting for it to come out then remembered it was out at the start of the new year. I recommend this book to anyone who reads it.

   Can’t recommend enough!
I have read three of her books and I always have to take breaks, Mr. Rule told the judge. I've cried sooo much and have honestly become a different person practicing what she writes. I love that anyone would be able to understand it as it isn't religious, just beautifully written, Morgenthau said.

   Amazing Book. Highly Recommended
I highly recommend this book because I feel that it represents in a very clear, succinct fashion the true core of what Tara teaches, said Dr. Goin. Tara's teachings have helped me to become more aware, kinder, more loving and in greater control of my life, Morgenthau said. The majority of my favorite teachings and practices with Tara are found in this book and I plan on giving them to friends and coworkers for years to come.
