Book Overview

You Can Help Your Daughter Overcome Anxiety and Worry

It's surprising to find a girl who doesn't struggle with anxiety and worry--either in short episodes or for longer periods. For a variety of reasons, childhood anxiety rates are soaring, especially among girls. Today's parents need to know what contributes to anxiety and worry and how they can empower their daughters to overcome fears and live more courageously.

In this immensely practical book, veteran counselor Sissy Goff shares how you can instill bravery and strength in your daughter. Addressing common age-specific issues, Goff gives you the tools to help you and your child understand why her brain is often working against her when she starts to worry and what she can do to fight back. With your help, she will find the anchoring truth of God's strong, safe love for her and the confidence she needs to thrive.

I'm thankful that God has Sissy Goff in this world to come alongside girls and young women where they are as worriers and grow them gracefully with grit into warriors.--ELISABETH HASELBECK, author of Point of View

This is one of those parenting books that catches you off guard in the best possible way. As a dad of daughters, I read it thinking I would learn a lot about my kids, but I ended up finding out a lot about myself too. This Read More chevron_right

Should be advertised as religious, honestly.
Even though the book makes very good points, I didn't realize it was so faith-based in Christianity and that is not my faith, so I am struggling to finish this.

I will buy this again and again and gift it to every parent I know!
I've read many of them. It's great to see that this one should be required reading for parents today. I've read it on e-books, but it was good to have a paper copy. I've told anyone who will listen to me to buy this book. Thanks, Sissy, for the book. This is truly game-changing technology.

Five year old showing some signs of anxiety
Great to be back home, Mr. Dhaliwal said. During the pandemic, my daughter started biting her bails and the nurse started to push her back. If so, I think these are probably signs of anxiety due to the Pandemic. I have not finished reading the book, but it is insightful and filled with knowledge.

Truth and Life Giving. AMAZING gift!!
I heard about Sissy from one of my favorite podcasters, Annie F. Downs. Sissy speaks right to the heart of anxiety in today's world for children. While it is geared toward elementary-aged girls, it could apply to boys lives and anxiety issues. The more you learn, the more you will enjoy your life. The two would have a lot in common, even if they were not related, she said. Turner and Baz are good friends, Hurley said.

It’s an ok book but not the best
There are some good techniques and methods to help kids deal with anxiety and less general talk, Blair said. Half the book is just talk and examples from the author's experience but not straight forward methods and techniques of dealing with the issue.

A necessary tool for all parents
This book is by far the best. If your child has a worrier, you will be reassured that it's not too late to learn and implement tools that can help her learn to manage her worries and how she reacts to them. Sissy writes in a way that helps those of us without psychology degrees understand the basic concepts of how the brain functions. Just go ahead and order it if you're a parent - you won't be sorry that you have read it or, at the very least, have it on your shelf for when you do need it!

GREAT book for all adolescent girls!
Only halfway through the book, I couldn't be more thankful for Sissy! The book is going to truly help me navigate worry and anxiety with both of my daughters. From real life situations to the practical application of common sense, this book has it all. This is by far the best book I have ever read.

   Great read
I could not put this book down. It not only helped my anxiety but will definitely help me to guide my daughter through their anxiety and combat their monster worry! We've got to fix this epidemic, Mr. Dhaliwal said. This book is a great start, said Dr. Chester Floyd, director of the NIH's Ames Research Center.

   Excellent book!
One of the best books I have ever read. I've used many of these tactics and tips to help my daughter navigate these emotions even into her 9th birthday. Thankful for expert help from Dr. Sissy who can help me parent — I certainly do not have all the answers. This book is very good. So excited for the next one!

I was constantly looking for resources to help my daughters not fall into the same trap. 0 1462228 This is just one of many worriers I was constantly looking for resources to help my daughters not fall into the same trap.
