Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Ramona just wants everyone to be happy. If only her father would smile and joke again, her mother would look less worried, her sister would be cheerful, and Picky-Picky would eat his cat food. But Ramona's father has lost his job, and nobody in the Quimby household is in a very good mood.

Ramona tries to cheer up the family as only Ramona can -- by rehearsing for life as a rich and famous star of television commercials, for instance -- but her best efforts only make things worse. Her sister, Beezus, calls her a pest, her parents lose patience with her, and her teacher claims she's forgotten her manners. But when her father admits he wouldn't trade her for a million dollars, Ramona knows everything is going to work out fine in the end.

   Eh...
I read the books by Ramona with my young cousins, nieces, nephews... pretty much any person related to me under 12. ) I bought this book recently and sat with them to read it... And I was bored throughout the whole book. The kids who did not want me to finish the book were also the same. Hearing about Ramona whining because she couldn t get her sheep costume was just the type of Ramona entertainment we were used. Although we did like the healthy bit in there about smoking, the cons outweigh the pros sadly.

   Still loving Ramona!
I remember reading these books as a little girl ''. I can 't wait to start reading them to my daughter now! The simple sensitivity and humor of the good-natured, but precocious Ramona will make you laugh and reflect on what life was like as a child.

It’s Ramona so you know it’s going to be good
This is probably the first real world book I read with my children. It was on our third reading list. From a child’s perspective, as the family goes through harder times, it definitely sparked a lot of interesting conversations.
