Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Ramona has been waiting years just to get to kindergarten, and once she's there she wants everyone to know it. She pretends to snore during quiet time to prove what a good rester she is. She yanks on prissy classmate Susan's curls--not to be mean, but because their boinginess is so tempting. And she gleefully plays the baddest witch on Halloween.

Big sister Beezus and others call her Ramona the Pest. Perhaps they don't understand that a littler person sometimes has to be a little bit noisier and a little bit more stubborn in order to be noticed at all.

Beloved author Beverly Cleary documents Ramona's hilarious--and heartwarming--struggles to make her way in a perplexing world. With gloriously fresh illustrations by Jacqueline Rogers created for this new edition, Ramona the Pest is the perfect tale for the spirited five-year-old in all of us.

   Absolutely wonderful read aloud.
I teach 4 and 5 year olds and am always looking for ways to introduce them to chapter books. Ramon the Pest is right up there with my Father's Dragon and Chocolate Fever. Ramona makes us laugh. I laugh before I finish reading the current section. It's a great book to practice comprehension. Predicting what she is going to do adds to the fun of the story. There are some parts where Ramona's poor choice leads to bigger problems and the children have the chance to talk about what went wrong with Ramona's actions. This is a good book. Ramona hands with pink worm engagement rings are part of a library display at the school. Who would want more from a book.

   Great
Beverly Cleary's one hundredth birthday was assigned to me as a book. Ramona the pest assigned me for a week. It would be boring since it was a lower level book. I was wrong! When we want to go home, I left Ramona The Pest at school. I asked my mom if I could buy the book. I hate reading online books, but I found out that the kindle version is easier to read and adapt to my learning speed, which is something I didn't know. If you have the same reading level or higher, I recommend this book. You' ll get sucked into the story and enjoy it as much as you did or would have at a lower level if you overlook this book at first.

Great stories! Great performance! Great value!
Ramona the Pest is a beloved masterpiece of children's fiction, according to other reviewers. Ramona's World is better than Ramona's Forever, but it is still a very satisfying finish to the series. Stockard Channing's recordings of these, and the other Ramona books, do justice to them all. The person is magnificent. Like her, she captures Ramona without ever patronizing her. You can expect the recordings to stand up to repeated listening. It's great to finally have CD editions of these recordings available, and the price they' re asking would be reasonable for one book -- for two whole books, this is a tremendous bargain.

Still relevant and beloved childrens book transcends tim
I wondered if the series would still apply to my children. They all relate to the characters and sentiment expressed in the book, which seems to defy the pop cultural differences of our modern world. I read a chapter to the three children in a row from my Amazon device in their bedroom, and then dropped it off in the morning. The story lines have opened the door to many conversations where the three children have felt free to express their feelings. Even though we can't visit in person, we still stay connected for some grandma time.

   Great for young readers
My daughter and I read this together over the last two weeks. I don't remember reading this when I was a kid, but it's one of my wife's favorite series. Ramona does a lot of things that little kids could do. I did the same things at that age. Ramona's perspective is clear in the story but no one else is. It's not surprising for a little kids book. Once again, the story was easy to read and fast paced. My wife liked these books when she was younger. There were no obvious errors in the book. There are many illustrations as well.

   Great series
I am reading with my granddaughter in mind. She begins kindergarten in a few weeks. I read a chapter to her in the middle of the day when she was resting. She enjoys it.

   Great story
Ramona looked at the clock and wiggled her tooth when she was messing with Susan's hear from our 4 year old son. Ramona was driving her two wheeler.

The BEST children's book I've ever read.
A five- year- old girl is about to start kindergarten. When my kids were young, I read it to them. Many of the phrases Ramona used in the book have been repeated by me through the years. When my grandsons come to visit, I purchased the book to keep on hand. I read it aloud to my husband before I went to bed, and we both laughed a lot.

This is for an 8 year old. Her birthday is two days away, and I know she will love it. She's already read a couple of the books.
