Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller

Irresistibly action-packed and full of lethal surprises, this stunning new fantasy series from Victoria Aveyard, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Red Queen series, begins where hope is lost and asks: When the heroes have fallen, who will take up the sword?

A strange darkness grows in Allward.

Even Corayne an-Amarat can feel it, tucked away in her small town at the edge of the sea.

She soon discovers the truth: She is the last of an ancient lineage--and the last hope to save the world from destruction. But she won't be alone. Even as darkness falls, she is joined by a band of unlikely companions:

A squire, forced to choose between home and honor. An immortal, avenging a broken promise. An assassin, exiled and bloodthirsty. An ancient sorceress, whose riddles hide an eerie foresight.A forger with a secret past.A bounty hunter with a score to settle.

Together they stand against a vicious opponent, invincible and determined to burn all kingdoms to ash, and an army unlike anything the realm has ever witnessed.

Fantastic world building and strong character development!
Things go wrong, but people become connected through unpleasant events. In the second part of the story, Andry witnesses the deaths of a group of knights that he was travelling with. The group of allies grows stronger as they realize that betrayal was not their own. A great world building and strong character development, 5 stars.
Before I go into any of this, I must say this book is nothing like Red Queen. The whole time I was waiting for the book I was subconsciously expecting something similar to Red Queen. The Web site says: "This is not an accurate representation of the state of Texas." I swear I'm not the only one who felt this wasn't written by Victoria, it sounded so different. I'll never put it into words how I felt about this book. Breathtaking vistas of the world's most stunning cities will draw you in without any intention of ever spitting you back out again. I've enjoyed the story, the characters and the story's overall structure. Another killer villain was added to the mix, and we got some great twists too. Thanks for all the love, Taylor. I recommend this book to anyone.
Not engaging, lacks depth, no romance, no plot twist
Finished Realm Breaker last night, and I have to say I did not love it. It was okay over all, maybe 3.55, said Dr. Goin. I was very grateful for the beautiful map displayed in the book because it really did help with placing where the characters were at different points of the story, he said. The countries were described in flawless detail, from the people to the architecture and even the smells, Mr. Dhaliwal said. I really appreciated having a clear image of where the story was taking place, and I liked the diversity of the characters, he said. The negatives Although the book started with a bang, it slowed down immediately after the action packed first two chapters and although it improved considerably towards the mid point, it was still highly predictable with only one minor plot twist and zero romance.
