Book Overview

From the New York Times bestselling author Kwame Alexander comes Rebound, a dynamic novel in verse and companion to his Newbery Award-winner, The Crossover, illustrated with striking graphic novel panels. Before Josh and Jordan Bell were streaking up and down the court, their father was learning his own moves. In this prequel to Newbery Medal winner The Crossover, Chuck Bell takes center stage, as readers get a glimpse of his childhood and how he became the jazz music worshiping, basketball star his sons look up to. A novel in verse with all the impact and rhythm readers have come to expect from Kwame Alexander, Rebound will go back in time to visit the childhood of Chuck Da Man Bell during one pivotal summer when young Charlie is sent to stay with his grandparents where he discovers basketball and learns more about his family's past.

This book is very good. My daughter read it for her summer read hun. There are so many relatable moments to Lindsay, as well as being very teachable, Bruno said. She was able to make connections to her personal life experiences that were difficult to find. It's a must read.
   Amazing read for all ages
This is one of my all time favorite books. Overall, I felt that it had a much more relatable protagonist and overall themes.

   One of His Best
Alexander McCall's "The Fifth Extinction" stands in a class by itself.
I read all three books, but I have to say this one stands out because it connects all of them. I'll never forget the book, and the chuck joke made after skinny left his dollar at the arcade. It was pretty cool the way he wrote the book, Tunick said. Funny books are the new normal.
   Great book !
This was our first summer reading and it was great, Coach said. I enjoyed the book and the characters, too, he said. It took us one day to finish this bike, because we couldn't put it down. I'm excited to be reading the second part of the series.
   Excellent read!
I've read K. Alexander's book. I immediately downloaded the game and found out more about these characters. Several times I felt like I was in the right place at the right time.
If you want a good book about basketball and life, read this book!
We're not making any kids read this book. We think you should read this book. Kwame Alexander, winner of the Newbery Award, is a best-selling novelist. Rebound is about basketball and life, not just winning a championship. We are a 6th grade boys' book group, but we know that girls will enjoy this book too!
   So deliciously good
I've read the entire thing, and I really liked it. I had no idea this one would be comparable. The analyst, Brian Sosa, said: "I was wrong. The second part of the series is a beautiful intertwining of the original with the back story of it all. They call it: "Ridiculousness."
   Appealing to 13 year-olds!
My son absolutely loves the show. He read Rebound in one day and asked me to buy anything else by Alexander.
