Have Christians become so preoccupied with the major sins of our society that we have lost sight of our need to deal with our own more subtle sins? Jerry Bridges returns to his trademark theme of holiness and addresses a dozen clusters of specific acceptable sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves - such as jealousy, anger, pride, unthankfulness, and judgmentalism.
Jerry writes not from a height of spiritual accomplishment but from the trenches of his own battles with sin. In his admonitions, Jerry offers a message of hope in the profound mercy of the gospel and the transforming grace of God as the means to overcoming our subtle sins.

We are taking time out of class and reading the rest of the book. This book has the workbook and reading book included, so it's the only one you'll need. I don't necessarily agree with everything the author says, but there's a lot of good material here and it makes you think about what you might or might not be doing, he said. There is something for everyone at CarRentals. com.

Really enjoyed
Derived From Web , Oct 22, 2021
The book was chosen in a bible study at church. I have felt so convicted by the subject matter that I enjoyed it. There are some conclusions or applications I'll leave but there are many, many, I'll miss. I personally thought the questions might have gone a bit deeper but they were fine, Mr. Rule told the judge.

This book is a necessary read for anyone who wants to truly examine their hearts. It brings you face to face on a very enlightening, honest way that surprises you with things you are not aware of as sins.

Back to the Basics
Derived From Web , Jan 28, 2020
The wide margins are perfect for writing notes, the discussion questions are wonderful to reinforce the lesson as well as provide great group discussion. I also treasure all of the Scripture that has been given to study out and hope-filled practical applications. You aren't just left feeling guilty about being such a terrible wretch, but you are pointed to Christ, the ultimate source of hope and healing, he said.

Awesome for small groups
Derived From Web , Jan 20, 2020
The results were so impressive, I couldn't help but congratulate the team. The group discussions really brought our group closer together, he said. He said they were able to open up with each other and that it was "really honest" about "our uncharacteristic sins." The author did an awesome job of making this easy to follow study, said Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Great Bible study, Hughes said. It really forces you to think about your sins. Even if you repent, your sins will feel good.

his best and and is a phenomenal encore to a career ...
Derived From Web , Feb 28, 2017
Jerry Bridges last book was, in my opinion, his best and most ambitious encore to a career built on writing material that challenges the reader to move outside their comfort zone and ask themselves tough questions. Well done Jerry, thank you for your life well lived and focused on growing spiritually mature believers, said Dr. Evans.

I bought the book and read about half of it ...
Derived From Web , Feb 22, 2017
I bought the book and read about half of it before I decided I wanted to review the rest of the material. I wanted to see who the small group material would treat the intro section. There are two materials used in the making of this part: borosilicate and silicon nitride. Because the book is so dense, it is difficult to separate the pages. Amazon says it can ship the book to you in just a few days. For a group that wants to read the book together, this will be a preferred choice -- as it also contains a set of questions that a group can discuss.

GREAT READ! GREAT DISCUSSIONS!
Derived From Web , Jan 9, 2017
The book opened my eyes to the world of women's small group study. It was great to see the kids again and again." Good read! Whether you are a born again Christian or straddling the fence as to where you are in your walk with the Lord, this book will help you. Some ladies read it through a second time and made more notes. As the facilitator of the group, I strongly encouraged the ladies to share their thoughts and what they walked away with after reading the chapter. We ALWAYS had soul searching penetrating discussions at the beginning, during and after EVERY session. Pauley, Jr., The New Republic's assistant managing editor, gave this book four out of five stars. He also thanked God for the forgiveness of all our sins.
