Book Overview

The searing, visionary memoir of founding Black Panther Huey P. Newton, in a dazzling graphic package

Eloquently tracing the birth of a revolutionary, Huey P. Newton's famous and oft-quoted autobiography is as much a manifesto as a portrait of the inner circle of America's Black Panther Party, which is recognizing its 50th anniversary in October 2016. From Newton's impoverished childhood on the streets of Oakland to his adolescence and struggles with the system, from his role in the Black Panthers to his solitary confinement in the Alameda County Jail, Revolutionary Suicide is smart, unrepentant, and thought-provoking in its portrayal of inspired radicalism.

   Insight
Black Panther gives the accounts from his eyes and point of view from childhood to Huey Newton. It's like he is sitting on your couch and talking to you. He brings the good and the bad together. After reading this book, I did not wonder any longer.

   An Incredible Story
There is so much I didn't know about this dynamic man and the Black Panther Party of Defense. Huey, however, had a vast vocabulary, so be prepared to search the definitions of the words he used. I am saddened that the efforts of the BPP are still needed today in 2016.

   Poor Quality!!!!!
It looks like a primary school project. You know who can cut the best paper and make a book out of it. This masterpiece was reduced to black production and the vendor should be embarrassed unless it was poor owned. Black owned book stores is where I go from now onwards.

   Missing chapter 25
Since purchasing this book, I read with a book club. I am just discovering an issue of my book. It looks like my book has the remainder of Chapter 25 missing and jumps into Chapter 26. If I have to buy another book, I am going to be pissed.

Good book. But has been tainted! :(
I read this book last year when I was 25. I loved it really. I read it as a concious person of what the American establishment system is becoming and growing into and wanted more insight into its history through Huey Newton. I must warn the reader that this book has been tainted. There are many chapters where one can tell that SOMEONE ELSE is doing the narrating and not Huey Newton. The American establishment system targeted the author or this book as an enemy and identified the works of this book soon after. Taking many original texts and replacing them with many. This is perhaps out of fear that the people will learn in knowledge from what they will learn from this book. But even with all this, Hueys spirit is strong and shows itself through the pages of this book. After a thorough reading of Book 1, you will be encouraged not only to organize, but also to know just HOW to go about it.

   "A must read"
A great book for anyone who wants to understand the struggles of black communities. This book tells the unadulterated truth about the corrupted American Police Departments and how the US criminal justice system terrorizes the black communities.
