Don't buy this if you already have Rick Steves Germany ...
Don't buy this if you already own a Rick Steves book. This book has information about Salzburg that isn't in the Germany book, but it's echoed in the Germany book. If you don't want to visit the rest of Germany or Austria, you should only buy this if you are going to focus your visit on the two cities.

Very useful, esp bonus audio walking tours
It's easy to find the right amount of information about the city, sights, and history using the free companion audio walking tour app. It's easy to search and it's well organized. This covers Neuschwanstein as well. On the fly, we changed our itinerary to visit them. We did not use the hotel and restaurant recommendations this trip, but we appreciated the range of prices.

A Great Help for My Visit to Munich
We spent a week there. Rick Steves' guide was a great help, giving his usual witty insights and descriptions of tourist sights and local culture alike. He gives narrative and opinions that you won't find elsewhere.

   must have!
I kept this book in my purse when I came back from Germany. The larger book was great, but this one was specific to Munich and small enough to carry around. Highly recommend!

Great Travel Book. A Must for travelling to Munich and Salzburg. Great Pocket Size too!!
We bought this to plan our trip to Salzburg. We will be taking the pocket size with us on the trip. Planning where to go, what to do, and where to stay has been handed down. There is so much valuable information. It has a large fold out map of Salzburg which is perfect for getting around in unfamiliar cities. It's definitely a must to travel to these cities. Rick Steve gives a lot of valuable information.

A nice pocket-sized resource for a quick visit
The Rick Steves reputation and format made this guide a good product for a quick weekend in either city. The maps are so flimsy you won't find them useful. There are some good highlights for food and lodging on the walking tour guides. Be sure to order the new version rather than the old one. The Knopf MapGuides are a better product if you can get them at your destination.

   Good value
I like Rick Steves books for self- guided tours and recommendations for off- the- beaten- path restaurants. This was the perfect size to carry around for our trip to Germany. There was more info on Salzburg that was not Mozart oriented.

handy guide for a quick trip
We were visiting family in Milan and decided to take a quick weekend trip to the other side of the world. It was easy to take along with us on our travels the handy pocket guide. We flew out of Munich on Monday morning after visiting Salzburg on Saturday. The guide gave us all the information we needed to plan our trip. It's worth the money.

   Travel Away
Enjoy his renditions with comments from his guides. I have all of his Italy pocket guides that are related to the trip I am making next year. I really recommend these books over the standard ones because I wish I had found them years ago.
