Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published on 25 April 1719. This first edition credited the work's fictional protagonist Robinson Crusoe as its author, leading many readers to believe he was a real person and the book a travelogue of true incidents. It was published under the considerably longer original title The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver'd by Pyrates. Epistolary, confessional, and didactic in form, the book is a fictional autobiography of the title character (whose birth name is Robinson Kreutznaer)-a castaway who spends years on a remote tropical island near Trinidad, encountering cannibals, captives, and mutineers before being rescued. The story is widely perceived to have been influenced by the life of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on the Pacific island called Mas a Tierra (in 1966 its name was changed to Robinson Crusoe Island), Chile.    Thought-provoking
A good edition for a good price. I read Robinson Crusoe when I was a non- Christian, but now that I'm a Christian, I find his contemplations about the meaning of deliverance to be really profound. One of those classics that can be read on many levels, and now I'm thinking, more appreciated as one gets older.

   For grandson.
I wanted to start a collection of classics for my grandson but the book was old fashioned. The size of the fonts is too small and not suited for reading.

   A must read.
The classic has a few flaws. I wondered what happened to the dog he rescued, why he was so happy to accept gifts from the captain of the ship he rescued from, and why Robinson decided to leave the island. Robinson killed a lot of bears with spears on his island in the Carib, but there are no bears in the Caribbean Islands. If mistakes are found for lack of knowledge or lack of interest from Defoe, it doesn't matter, the book is a must. I added this book to my Must Reads because I never read it in my youth.

It's the same book as all of them, but print is VERY small.
I assumed the print would be the same size as the paperback, but it was smaller than a small paperback and I think I' ll make it with less pages.

Its of course a classic and an amazing read, timeless
It's a classic and an amazing read for me, but they can't relate to it in any way, which I expected. I think the language is too complex, not David Walliams... Back in the 70 ies, this was a children's classic literature, and I remember reading it when I was in primary school. It seems like a different story these days. Language has been simplified
