Great young adult fiction about how our fantasies rarely live up to reality
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
The story was gripping and well told. A young girl runs away from her foster mom to find her twin sister, who she fantasizes will welcome her. The girl does a lot of walking, going hungry, and making a canine and human friend along the way. Even though she feels discouraged, her moral centeredness comes through each time, even though she is tested. Her twin sister's reality? Let's just say that it's not what our young hero thought it would be. She returned to her true home, and it was not a place. You are with who you are with.

Another great Peg Kehret book
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
My child has been spending a lot of money on books lately. Her new favorite author is Peg Kehret. One request I try not to turn down is my kids asking for books, so of course I ordered this one for her, even though I didn't log on. The book is well written and allows the reader to connect immediately with the story. My 9 year old is engrossed in it because it was less expensive than most other books. She was drawn to this author because of another book she had written.

Quite a surprise ending!!!
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
If the story does not grab the attention of the young students quickly, they may bore. At 64 years of age, I could not put the book down and I decided to read it myself because it was on my Granddaughters reading list. I was surprised by the end and didn't think it would happen. I would highly recommend this book to students in grades 3 to 4.

I' ve read all of the books by the author, and they' re my favorite. They loved this one the most. The author is sympathetic to a dog or cat with a main character in many of her books.

Happily ever after...

I was glad that she ended up with Rita because the foster care system can be traumatic for children. A great read. So happy for Snickers.
