Book Overview

Bruce is a lot of things. He is a bear. He is a grump. He is a pretty decent cook. And he is a mother.
One thing Bruce is not?
Santa Claus.
But that doesn't stop the whole forest from lining up to give him their Christmas wishes when he becomes the victim of mistaken identity-again.
Kids will howl with laughter as award-winning author-illustrator Ryan T. Higgins delivers another hilarious story about this bear who just can't catch a break.

   LOVE the Bruce series
My children LOVE the Bruce series. The illustrations are always fun, the story line is always well done, and there is always some humor for older children, adults that make the person reading the story laugh as well. We love all books written by this author. You can 't go wrong!

   Love it!
We LOVE Bruce's mother, the books. We have them all. This one is great to read to help you get into the spirit of Christmas, even if some people have the bah humbug spirit.

Bruce is not so grumpy after all ...
We love Bruce... We also own other titles from him. Very creative drawings and cute stories. My LO is always looking forward to hearing a story from Bruce.

Almost as good as the original!
We loved Mother Bruce so much that we bought two more in the series, including this. I do not like the new characters introduced in Hotel Bruce ; they are funny, not Grumpy, or visually funny like Bruce and the Geese. They annoy me so. This book also has the squirrels in it, but it was situated closer to the comic-visuals in the original book. The animals think Bruce is California because he’s outside in winter and he happens to be wearing red. Without the annoying characters, 5 stars would have been enough.

   Bad message about respecting boundaries
He loves it, but I hate it. I'm currently knee deep in teaching him about consent and listening to others when they say no, and then here is a book that begins to end about Bruce saying no over and over and his family ignoring him and doing what they want and then pressuring him to participate. I had to talk to my son about how it is not okay that they did that to him and that when someone tells you no, you need to listen.

   It's just ok
When I first purchased Mother Bruce, I did not realize how funny it would be and how much my children would LOVE it. The art caught my eye and it seemed good when I bought it, so I skimmed it. Then I picked up Bruce's Big Move and Hotel Bruce and was not too impressed, but were still cute. Meh's followers are also very important. There were only a few small things that gave my family and me a giggle, but it is pretty much a flop. The theme is that Bruce makes himself happy so that everyone else can be miserable. At least in Geeseville, he seemed to find some joy at the end on the beach with Mother Bruce. The mice add just annoyance to the stories. I don 't think I'll buy another Bruce book if it is as depressing as this or has the mice. Bummer is a famous German actor.

   SO MUCH FUN!
I love Bruce . Just because he wears red long johns, the animals think he is Santa Claus. All he wants to do is hibernate, but the mice and geese won 't let him. I love this series ''. It goes just as it becomes more and more fun. One of these days, Bruce is going to sit on him. Bruce makes the books for me as well as Twitch's reactions.

   Another great Bruce tale
I agree with other reviewers that this is not a bad story involving favorite characters in a blech plotline that happens to be set during Christmas. It is a great story that does actually requires it to be Christmas for the plot to work, and of course has all the previous characters we love.

Would you like to be Santa?
Winter means hibernation for him. His little family of mice and geese are very excited to celebrate Christmas and share it with their community. The entire community soon knocked at his door and called him Santa. Bruce's little family wanted him to go all the way and deliver presents on Christmas Eve. The author Ryan T. Higgins created another hilarious read in his series of Bruce the Bear. This story is perfect for a read-a-loud with funny characters and a lot of recognizable holiday objects. Parents, teachers, and caregivers will enjoy sharing this for the holidays or anytime.
