   A Must-Read!
Save Me a Seat gave me a lot to think about when it comes to kids dealing with cultural differences, loneliness, and friendship. The first week of school is when the new kid in school and their friends from last year are discovered to be different. Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan are writing a book that is needed in the current political climate while also being fun to read.

   My 10 year old son loved this book!
My son didn't like the idea of having to read this book for school. He stopped reading after reading a few chapters. He couldn't put the book down when he picked it up again. He read the entire book in a day. The story was written from a different perspective. We recommend Save Me a Seat to all 4 th to 6 th graders.

   A dark, fantasy world where group identity and bigotry reign
The book depicts a current- day American school as a dangerous place due to the coarse language, rude behavior, and fantasies of violent revenge it contains. I think the homes of many other parents of our students would not allow this book in their homes. The glossar[ ies] at the end were not as nice. My child was told she couldn't bring this book with her. I got my own copy and read it, and I think I know why.

It's one of my new favorites to recommend to 4-7 graders. The characters are real and relevant and provide many discussion opportunities about challenges for immigrant students in fitting in, as well as the universal issue of bullies and followers standing up for themselves.

   A Book that Will Have You on the Edge of Your Seat
Save Me a Seat is one of the best children's books I have ever read. The conflicts of the characters are true. The book is a great example of perspectives. Children will like reading this book. As they hone their comparative skills, they will learn about life lessons about accepting other people's cultures. I hope for more collaborations between these two authors.

   My 3rd graders favorite book!
I had to read this out loud for my 3 rd graders, but she loved it. They teach about different cultures, family and friendship. It's easy to understand. It was brilliant.

   Great!
The book was great. I don't think parents should bow down to their kids, but the story over all was great. I got it done in a few hours, because I couldn't stop reading it. There are a few words I wouldn't want my kids to say, but not the bad ones. The cover is pretty.
