the story unfolds from several perspectives
A few surprises happened on the way. The story enjoyed very much. I did not think that the ending was suitable for Sylvie.

2
   Exhausted
No character development beyond prose. Boring and silly.

   Slow starter
It took me a while to get engaged in this story, but once hooked, I couldn t put it down. Interesting and different theme with well developed characters.

   Outstanding
A truly wonderful book that I read slowly to enjoy the writing. I could see a real scene from scratch and the characters were so other to me. More forward to reading more from this author.

   Good Read for book clubs
All in all, this was an exciting pageturner. The story takes place over 3 different countries and though different cultures and the author was able to weave the story so well that it was not choppy or confusing. I think that this would also be a good book club discussion!

   Interesting story but BAD WRITING
It appeared to be written by two different writers. One was very readable, but the other was silly, like who “jumps onto the floor ” or says I am not made of doll poopie ''. I found myself skipping 10 pages forward and nothing more had happened. I wonder if someone has done a really bad translation of this book. I also felt that the book should have been titled Searching for Amy '' instead of Searching for Sylvia ''. It was Amy that and Amy that. The first two thirds of the book was very readable, unlike the last two thirds, which was a hard boring read. That is why it felt like this book was written by two different people. I liked the ending, but it was not enough to make me want to read this author again.

Simply Magnificent! One of the best summer reads o 2019 Period!
I was searching for Sylvia Lee on Tuesday and I can not stop thinking about the characters! The characters are well defined and we 'll write. This book had me on the edge of my seat or in my case my wheelchair the whole time lol! The twists and turns in this novel were simply amazing. I mean, as soon as you thought you had something to figure out, Wham Bam was another twisted and another surprise was right there! When you read a Jean Kwok novel, you get a first class ticket around the world as a reader! Jean describes the scene and sets the locations in her book with such magnificent detail that you are transported by the reader in an instant! This is my first Jean Kwok novel, but I can promise that it will not be my last friends!

Some excellent writing but overwrought description over-the-top plot elements
Some chapters are truly excellent, but others in the description get tangled up, though the author is skilled in crafting the scenes. The characters are a little unbelievable. Some of the drama depends on secrets, it is hard to believe real-world friends and family would keep from each other. And many of the characters'properties -- especially Sylvie -- do not add for me a believable person.
