What happens when a cat tries to be a dog? With this second wry primer, the creators of See the Cat return to demonstrate that standing in for a friend can be trickier than expected.
The dog is sick today, but have no fear--the cat is happy to take his place But when the book (who is very bossy) tells her to dig a hole, the dirt-averse cat finds a way to accomplish the task while keeping her fur pristine. And when the book demands that she fetch a stick (in the water ) or guard a sheep (from a wolf ), the cat responds in very un-doglike ways. Can the book and the cat reach a happy ending? With simple, repetitive phrases and tongue-in-cheek humor, this spoof on a classic early reader pits a well-meaning but slightly dramatic cat against a highly persistent book in a comical battle of wits that will have kids yowling. The recommended reading level for See The Dog: Three Stories About A Cat is Preschool through 3rd Grade .
See The Dog: Three Stories About A Cat is 64 pages long.

This second book in a beginner - reader series see the Cat Three Stories About a Dog. In this offering there are short stories by the dog, see the lake, and see the sheep. The dog is sick so Baby Cakes the Cat steps up and is ready to take over the dog duties. Unfortunately for Baby Cakes, some of the daily duties of dogs, such as digging holes and herding sheep, seem to a dog better suited. Fortunately for the cat, Max gets better and is soon able to resume his daily routines. This book and the series is perfect for new readers. The illustrations by Mike Wohnoutka are as well creative and fun. These books have just enough words on each page and just enough humor to show new readers how much fun reading can be without causing any frustration. This is a series that gives lots of smiles and giggles reminds me of Mo Willem's Pigeon series books, which are so popular with new readers as well.
