In the Last Great Wilderness, one by one the bears begin to remember their true natures. Toklo feels the urge to hunt caribou and mark his territory as a brown bear should, and Kallik feels the pull of the ice within her. It's only Lusa, happy just to be in the wild, who fears the day when her friends will leave her to follow their own paths.

As the bears adjust to this new life, disaster strikes. The friends are forced to venture into the world of the flat-faces to save the life of one of their own. Once there, the end of their journey seems farther away than ever, as a new path spreads out before them.

   Captivating and Suspenseful
This book was very good. The entire series as well as the second series, Return to the Wild, are recommended by me. There are so many books written by the author. You can't put the books down after you start. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Return to the Wild The Burning Horizon, which I have not read, but will on January 6, 2015. I hope you look into these books, because they are a journey of adventure waiting to happen.

I purchased most of the series for my daughter. She started the series when she checked out book 1 and found that they didn't have book 2 and the rest were wait listed. After she has read them, I bought 3-6 for her to give to her school library.
