From Pete Souza, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Obama: An Intimate Portrait, comes a potent commentary on the Presidency -- and our country.
As Chief Official White House Photographer, Pete Souza spent more time alongside President Barack Obama than almost anyone else. His years photographing the President gave him an intimate behind-the-scenes view of the unique gravity of the Office of the Presidency -- and the tremendous responsibility that comes with it. Now, as a concerned citizen observing the Trump administration, he is standing up and speaking out. Shade is a portrait in Presidential contrasts, telling the tale of the Obama and Trump administrations through a series of visual juxtapositions. Here, more than one hundred of Souza's unforgettable images of President Obama deliver new power and meaning when framed by the tweets, news headlines, and quotes that defined the first 500 days of the Trump White House. What began with Souza's Instagram posts soon after President Trump's inauguration in January 2017 has become a potent commentary on the state of the Presidency, and our country. Some call this throwing shade. Souza calls it telling the truth. In Shade, Souza's photographs are more than a rejoinder to the chaos, abuses of power, and destructive policies that now define our nation's highest office. They are a reminder of a President we could believe in, and a courageous defense of American values. It takes about 5 Hours and 59 minutes on average for a reader to read Shade: A Tale Of Two Presidents. This is based on the average reading speed of 250 Words per minute.
Shade: A Tale Of Two Presidents is 240 pages long.
Shade - a side-to-side comparison of two realities; one that missed, and one forever regretted.

This is a book that should be placed on or around the table of all. This book proves that pictures are worth a thousand words at times. These pictures show what one has in abundance and another shows what is lacking.

Tribute to Obama
Derived From Web , Dec 20, 2020
This book by SHADE is a reminder of the wonderful qualities that a great person possesses. So lucky to have had the pleasure of his presidency. What a contrast to the flow-up reality denial we live through. The 20 January can not come fast enough.

Loved It!
Derived From Web , Dec 20, 2020
My parents wanted this book and I was a little skeptical about buying it due to it being from a third party and saying that it had a mark on the pages. I did my chances and am happy that I've taken them. I enjoyed wrapping it up before reading it to give it to my parents for Christmas! '' From this seller I would definitely purchase again! Arrived quickly and in great condition, though it was USED.

I love this book! The photos and captions made me long again for a president who is hard working and kind and not lining his pocket at the expense of this country and its intelligent and kind citizens.

Not for Trump fans.
Derived From Web , Nov 10, 2018
I enjoyed the previous book by the White House photographer on moments he captured in the Obama administration, so he grabbed a copy of this. Evidently, he would take social media after a comment or action by Obama and contrast it to a picture of Trump from his files. His comparison is designed to be class versus clueless, but I guess that would depend on your interpretation. As I prefer my presidents to be analytical, informed, considerate of the feelings of others, factual and professional, I give it 4 stars despite the obvious pro - Obama slant.

Beauty and the Beast....
Derived From Web , Nov 7, 2018
Fortunately, photos of the beast are omitted, but offerings of his high ideology provide a glaring juxtaposition of two very different men, one of whom crass would put it nicely. Mr Souza, you have done very well!

It's OK
Derived From Web , Nov 6, 2018
I have the original Obama book ''. It is a beautiful, large, wonderful paper, coffee table book. Paper is not as little -- even the book jacket is a cheapy, the book is nice in size -- more similar to a hardcover novel. The book is the author's opinions, so brace yourself. I follow him on IG so that there are no surprises. It was just smart ''. It's a lot of work for Donald to take -- even if it is in response to him -- that says more about climate as opposed to the book. As I was wrapping up, I realize that the book goes only until May 2018... so what? Wie many books to come? The man is a bit complicated : That is a lot of shade.
