Wow! What a great technical book
I am always on the lookout for great technical books to add to my quilting library. I have already used the book to quilt squares on a quilt I am currently making. This book can proudly stand next to Harriet Hargrave and Diane Gaudynski's books on machine quilting. Note that there are NO quilt patterns in this book. It is a machine manual on the technical quilting.

   Great ideas for beginning FMQ!
Since childhood, I have been a sewist, but have been quilting only a year-old quilts so far. I must admit that I have yet to quilt one. Have been studying fmq on the web and decided to try Angela's book on my Kindle. She writes as if she were explaining things to me as she sits at my new quilting machine by my side. I think I got more from her book than several lessons on line-definite ideas on how to combine designs for interest. I have been reticent to try to quilt one of my beautiful quilt tops, but here goes... Angela and me on the machine and Christmas presents in the making!!!

   Excellent for machine quilters
I have already loved Angela's blog and you tube videos. Now that I have my own long arm quilting machine, I wanted to find a reference to help me in a practical way. This fits the bill and I am happy with my purchase.

A great quilting book but I wish it had a spiral binding!
I love Angela Walters and have her first book on quilting plus her Craftsy course. This is a great book for helping to quilt the quilt... and I love that she does not target this to long arm quilters or shamelessly pitches a specific product. It would be nice if this were a spiral binding, but I can have this done. I do wish that more of these books came with a spiral binding as I will keep this book at my machine when I quilt as a reference and it is easier to read when flat... but just my opinion.

Angela Walters writes in a way that a beginner like me can understand fully and I can appreciate fully.

I am finding it very useful and it is making me stretch my quilting imagination
I am just getting into more modern quilting, and Angela Walters is one of the new stars. She breaks the book into sections based on quilt shapes that need to be filled. I find it very useful and it makes me stretch my quilting - imagination.

Shape by Shape shows how to apply FMQ forms to your quilts.
Book of distinction. There are many books, videos and classes to learn free motion quilting. But how do you use it once you learn a pattern? Where do you put the pebbles, swirls and other shapes? She does show how to use each form, but even if you know some quilting forms already, the book is still worth it because she shows how and where to make the forms. As a beginning quilter, I have gone through half-a-dozen books on FMQ and 4 Craftsy classes. This book has pulled it all together for me so that I can apply those FMQ patterns to my quilting.

   Great book for real quilters
Very good quilting book, but it is not for you top makers unless you want to get inspired to quilt quilting, which is far easier than top makers realize. This book provides various quilting designs for several shapes, including squares, circles, triangles, rectangles and diamonds. The directions included show how to use each design and how to make them in a quilt. Though easy to make and inspire, the designs can be used individually or individually adapted. The variety means that you never have to try to remember that design you used a few years ago, but now you can 't remember, though you're sure it would be perfect. This book is only designs for quilting. It does not include anything on how to piece or applique, so buy this when you finally decide you 'd like to finish a quilt by yourself instead of quilting by checkbook.
