Tahereh Mafi's writing style is unique and easy to read, it flows nicely and the chapters aren't long and drawn out. The characters in this book are beautifully written and there are a lot of plot twists that make for an all-around good read!

One of the better 2010's YA Books
Annalisa C , Dec 8, 2021
I believe I was a bit too old for this book when I read it. It's got an interesting premise and I enjoyed several of the characters. However, I didn't like the main character as much, as she suffered from 'things happening to her' and not being proactive in the story. I was a fan of the love interests or the romantic plot in it, something very much in line with the 2010s YA books so it is quite a bit like the others of the same dystopian genre. Is it bad? Not necessarily, but I won't say it is the best or my favorite

Good

Shatter me was pretty good, but I found the protagonist to be pretty shallow. I liked the book overall but I feel like Juliette was a follower instead of a leader and I didn't love most of the decisions she made. I also personally am not a fan of love triangles so that also brought my rating down a bit.
