Book Overview

A New York Times bestseller

From gold-medal-winning Olympic gymnast and bestselling author Laurie Hernandez comes a picture book about chasing your dreams and never giving up.

Even Olympians have to start somewhere. And in this charming illustrated book, Laurie Hernandez tells the story of Zoe, a little girl who dreams of flying--and becoming a gymnast.

When Zoe sees a gymnast on TV, she realizes that gymnastics is just like flying. But when she first goes to class and falls off the balance beam, she discovers that following her dreams is harder and scarier than she thought.

Through this heartwarming and inspirational story, featuring vibrant art from #1 New York Times bestselling and Geisel Honor-winning artist Nina Mata, Laurie imparts important lessons she learned on her way to Olympic glory: You always have to get back up and try again, and you always have to believe in yourself.

   A great book
My daughter fell at her gymnastics class yesterday and got hurt. She got back up. I was able to use a real life experience for the book after we read it. It is a great purchase before the Olympics.
   Great book for gymnasts
I gave this book to my granddaughter because she fell off the beam 3 times at her last gymnastics meet. This book is all about not giving up. We both enjoyed reading it.
Great lesson for little aspiring gymnast! Wants it every night.
My daughter is almost four years old and three months into her first gymnastics class. It taught her how to get up when she falls. Even if it hurts. It has helped her understand why people stare when she doesastics moves. The book is long and colorful. I was not happy with the simplest errors in the book. My daughter is of the age where I want her to understand how to properly string together her thoughts into sentences with correct punctuation, but this book is written and written as if it were a stream of consciousness.
Lives for you to read to her
The granddaughter loves the book. She reads this to her dolls while in gymnastics. She is only five years old so she reads it her way.
   Easy read for my niece
I bought a cute story for my niece. This was the best gift for her because she learned how to read gymnastics. She liked the book and the girl in the picture looked like her.
   Great books- inspiring and enjoyable!
I bought my daughter a picture book and a chapter book because she is 9. She adores both of them. She has been taking gymnastics lessons for a few years and is a big fan of Laurie. I would recommend shipping.
   Growth mindset for any child
A great lesson about resilience and how to face challenges is contained in the book. It is a good message for any gymnast.
   LOVE this book!
My 3.5 year old daughter is in gymnastics class, and she loves this book. It has a great message to keep trying. When we get to the end, my daughter always asks me if I can do that as well. It opens up a great conversation as well.
   Love it
This book was brought to my daughter. She is doing gymnastics. She was shown that it was ok to fall. The point is not to stay down, but to get up again and keep trying.
   Great story!
There is a cute book about trying your best. My niece liked it. If you have a little girl interested in gymnastics, it's a great book for her to read.
