   Revisits "One Minute Manager Meets The Monkey" by Ken Blanchard
He is an inspiring speaker and a powerful motivator. This book offers a compelling lesson about the importance of knowing how to keep your staff accountable by letting them own their role and the associated responsibilities. It helps leaders avoid reversal delegation. The book is practical examples and offers an easy read. My only criticism is that the concept was fully developed in another author's work, which I later learned when the title appeared in my recommended titles from Amazon. Since then, I read The One Minute Manager meets The Monkey. I am sad to say that Whitaker has not really added to the original concept, hence the two-star rating.

   LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!
I have worked for the US government, which is a hotbed for management - shifting monkeys. For the U.S. government, I have worked for 47 years. The person who is the slacker or breaks the rules is never dealt with by management, calling us all to a general staff meeting or sending out emails reminding us of the rules. This book was written for my supervisor to read. Even if they read it, they would not do anything about it, but I plan to put a route slip on it and bring it back to our management the day I retired. This book is a great book and should be read by every person in supervision and heed it. It LOVED IT!!!!!! What a gorgeous thing to be! ''

This book is primarily written from a supervisorial perspective, but is also quite valuable for folks in all levels of an organization, including supervisors. The book gives vivid and effective examples of the lengths that liars, criers and other slackers will go to their monkeys on their backs. Todd thanks for another great book, Todd!

   quick read, useful tips
This is not a business novel. Solid examples, useful strategies and a very quick read. You'll be aware of occasions when colleagues shift responsibilities and you catch yourself doing the same. No heavy-handed tactics, solid tools for keeping people responsible for their own actions and responsibilities.

   Typical Whitaker--does not disappoint
Former principal Todd Whitaker writes clearly and is very user friendly. This is a great book for any beginning administrator - it clearly points out rookie errors that many seasoned leaders still employ. You may find yourself wanting to provide a copy to your own boss!

   simplistic and overly general
This is generic, anecdotal and an amateur effort. The most useful part is summarised by the three questions he keeps coming back to, but I found his suggestions for moving the monkey in each chapter are inappropriate, sometimes unrealistic and occasionally cringe-worthy.

   Straight forward view of author on how he thinks is the best way to handle situations.
Shifting the Monkey describes a management style written by an educator, probably mainly addressed to administrators and how they should deal with teachers and others in the school community. He emphasizes the basics of the system and gives examples of how to handle situations so that the boss or manager is not forced to take on more of the day to day operation of the business. The assumption is that there is a need to protect the good from liars, criers and slackers.

This book really helped me understand how to deal with people who want to complain or push their work on others.

   Short and To The Point
I like it because it is short and gets to the point. Don 't really like that there are key boxes to emphasize small messages because it is literally a copy and paste of what I read a paragraph ago. I read it off the kindle, so that the format was different than the novel. It was helpful in office business conflicts.

I reminded me that as a leader I must be sensitive to the tactics of others and shift responsibilities back to where they belong. And in doing so, make good decisions to protect the smart employees.
