Not too long, straight to the point

This book enjoyed us greatly. It is so easy to forget even when we become adults, that we have elders and respect them too.

good message

Critical message is rarely addressed by the media, though fairly short and lower paper quality compared to the older books I am used.

Confusing message - disappointed.
Derived From Web , May 17, 2022
In all, I am a fan of the Berenstain Bears due to their character-building properties. I do not like this book, however, because they portray not only the cubs, but also their parents as disrespectful, which undermines the established character, especially the mother bear. Additionally, when the grandparents correct the parents, it is not done either with kindness, but comes across more as agitated, demanding, and deserving. This book had great potential and I loved the Bible verses quoted, but it missed its mark and will not be one we read again due to the confusing message.

A little ‘bible-y’ but great story in general
Derived From Web , Mar 12, 2022
There are 3 quotes from the Bible — they are easy to include when reading if you don 't want to leave them. But the general story is about showing respect to your elders. Sister and brother Bear show respect to their parents and their parents and Papa and Mama show respect to their parents the grandparents. It is an easy read and gets to point across OK, there is no real resolution other than apologies and the mention of forgetting their manners. But I think that for young children it can facilitate discussion and they actually include questions at the very end of the book that are helpful!

Berenstain Bears Changed...
Derived From Web , Jul 11, 2020
A huge fan of these books when I was a kid was me. My five-year-old also enjoys these and asked if they were more than what I had from my childhood library. I start a group without really looking at it. Some were the religious bee books I loved, but some like this one contained more a same old theme. When you are not looking for a Bible message complete with Christian verses, skip the series Living Lights.

Not what I expected
Derived From Web , Feb 7, 2020
I was with my 3 year old granddaughter and thought she might enjoy a book by Berenstain Bears, just like her mothermy did at that age. I didn 't realize that this book has a religious component quoting Bible verses. The next time I want to read her a book by Berenstain Bears, I’ll grab the ones we saved in our basement.
