Navigating the Four Critical Seasons of Relationship

The vast majority of young people will still pass through the key phases of singleness, dating, engagement and marriage in their twenties. Yet they are delaying marriage longer than any generation in human history. Why?

For the first time in history, the average age for an American woman having her first child, 26, is younger than the average age of her first marriage, 27. More children than ever are growing up in fatherless homes, despite the overwhelming evidence that in every measurable way this is bad for the child. The Center for Disease Control also recently reported a dramatic rise in sexually transmitted disease nationwide. In Rhode Island alone, since the onset of online dating, reported cases of Syphilis has risen 79%, and HIV has increased by 33%. Though many young people can avoid early pregnancy and STDs, most cannot dodge the depression and feelings of isolation that characterize this modern generation. Studies show a dramatic rise in self-reported loneliness among the young. All of our technological connectivity has not made us feel more connected. In many ways, the very screens that are meant to link us to others have become shields blocking us from the deep intimacy we crave. Many have discovered that where there is a lack of Read More chevron_right

   THIS BOOK IS FOR EVERYONE!
I saw the review that said that this book is not for someone in their 30s. I disagree completely ''. Yes, he spoke on his experience of meeting his wife, but he also dumped deep into the Scriptures. You may not relate to how he met his wife, but he went further to speak on being single and focusing on the Lord. I would say that someone who is not ready to terminate the constant search for other love and focus on God's love should not read this book. Anyone who is prepared to concentrate on the relationship with God and place their desire for a happy dating married life in God's hands. This book should be read by all. She is a divorced mother in her 30s. I found this book especially useful ''. This is the only book I have so far that didn 't make me feel like I could start again.

   Good Principles
The book is short, perhaps a little good. I recommend that if you are looking to manage a young group for teens or small adults, I recommend.

A single's perspective: book was helpful
As a result, my heart has turned toward making the most of the gift of singleness and I am thankful for the time I have given Him to devote solely to Him. And I am now better aware, what to search for when dating or considering dating a man. I did not read the last chapters on marriage because I did not think it was yet relevant to my life, but what I did read was insightful. I am grateful for some humor in there and for stories by the author.

If you're over 30 and single, I don't recommend this book.
If you're over 30 and single, you may find this book frustrating. There is a lot of great truth, but you read the point of view of a male who met his wife in college. Maybe's single and dating sections were hard to swallow as he does not know what it is like to date and he absolutely has no idea about being single. I'd be hesitant to recommend this to anyone over 30 who is single.

   Christ Seeking Persepctive
What I love about Ben's book is that he doesn 't tell you how to be content and get a date and how not to be sinful in engagementmarriage. Those kinds of practices are centered on achieving a byproduct. A byproduct is not just a result, but a result that comes about because of something else. Ben's focus is on how a Christian can live a faithful life in these stages and trust God with the byproducts of healthy Christian singleness, dating, etc. Ben's taking this angle can certainly lead readers into byproducts such as contentment, wise dating practices, etc., but that is not his focus or aim. The focus of Ben is that Christians should seek God and know God known and that will mean certain things for singleness, dating, etc. Every bit of advice he offers is soaked up in that focus. Love God and love your neighbor.

   Loved this book!
I hid away from books about relationships until I started attending the Passion City church and a friend recommended this to me after a separation. This book will change your perspective and make you better for the better. Kiss Dating Goodbye : I wish this book was around for my generation instead of Kiss Dating Goodbye. Oh how different things would have been if this generation was engaged, married, single. Please read! Please read! No matter what stage of life you are in, you will benefit from this book.
