Kat Leyh's Snapdragon is a magical realist graphic novel about a young girl who befriends her town's witch and discovers the strange magic within herself.
Snap's town had a witch. At least, that's how the rumor goes. But in reality, Jacks is just a crocks-wearing, internet-savvy old lady who sells roadkill skeletons online--after doing a little ritual to put their spirits to rest. It's creepy, sure, but Snap thinks it's kind of cool, too. They make a deal: Jacks will teach Snap how to take care of the baby opossums that Snap rescued, and Snap will help Jacks with her work. But as Snap starts to get to know Jacks, she realizes that Jacks may in fact have real magic--and a connection with Snap's family's past.It takes about 3 Hours and 56 minutes on average for a reader to read Snapdragon. This is based on the average reading speed of 250 Words per minute.
The recommended reading level for Snapdragon is 5th Grade through 9th Grade .
Snapdragon is 240 pages long.
Written comic book style

I did not realize when ordering the book that it is like a comic book with conversation bubbles. I was disappointed but gave it to her anyway & she apparently loves that type of book.

Blair said: "I don't think so." Only in the case of Gillian Anderson did every other reviewer say she was "overwhelmingly positive."

This Book Was Refreshing and Fun To read
Derived From Web , Aug 31, 2020
Thanks for sharing this wonderful and refreshing story. Even in quarantine, Armstrong said, he feels strong. In "The Little Red Book," a young girl befriends a witch, and her puppy, new friends and the power of magic. It was a total waste of money, and I ended up buying a second book for my cousin. In the second part of the story, we hear of a scary witch living in town that can use magical powers. In "The Mysterious Dr. Pepper," snapdragon visits the house, sees the skeleton in her closet and runs home. Later at school, she needs the witch and finds that the witch is pretty Interesting and not scary at all.

Wholesome, sweet, and will (probably) make you cry. Absolutely wonderful.
Derived From Web , May 19, 2020
I'm a huge fan of the story, the art, the characters. It is wholesome and sweet, and makes me so happy. My 10 year old brother asked to read it and i was hesitant, but he was allowed to. He absolutely loved it, much to my suprise, he adored it. The representation is wonderful, and i'm so happy this book is out and about in the universe, said Cara.

Such a fun middle grade graphic novel!
Derived From Web , Apr 10, 2020
This book was so much fun, I almost missed it. I've seen the movies, but I'm not a huge fan of the magic. She is a shy girl who deals with bullies and is often called weird. Her best friend Lu is a trans girl learning how to be herself in public school. Then there's Jacks, an elderly woman who is called the witch of the town that really just puts bones together and sells them online. It's just sweet and nice and a really good middle school, Tunick said.

Note the subheading of this terrible parable in the "Harry Potter" series: "Won't discuss plot to avoid spoilers, but thumbs up on all appendages for character development." Favorite graphic novel in recent memory?

Super fun, beautiful to look at, and heartfelt story!
Derived From Web , Feb 22, 2020
Just from the preview the art and energy of the story were a huge draw, Byrne said. I didn't even realize I recognized the creator's work from Lumberjanes until I scanned the back of the book. On top of just the beautiful artwork though, is a story that just grows and grows as it goes, adding new elements to an already interesting and relatable story at a comfortable pace. Each new element is easily woven and connected to the old, leading to a lovely and satisfying bloom of an ending.

Adore This Story and Art
Derived From Web , Feb 10, 2020
I could not put down this book. I've always loved all of the characters, even the animals, Mr. Booher said. The family dynamics are shown through the prism of Christian Broadcasting. The cast of The Handmaid's Tale is very unique and realistic, even though the story is set in the 1960s. So yeah, this was a joy to read and definitely belongs in everybody's graphic novel collection.
