   A Childhood Favorite
I know I must have read more books in the past, but this is the only one that I remember fondly. As a child, I imagined being in heroic situations, and this story allowed me to read about children who had actually carried out heroics while they sledded. A few years ago, I found the book with the same cover on Amazon, and I was excited to read it with my daughter. I wanted to read it again with my son who is now at an age when he can appreciate it, but it was lost. I was able to find the same version again. My children enjoyed it, but I wonder if it's simple plot and characters will satisfy them.

   Great Memories...Great Book...Great Copy/Version of It!
When I was in elementary school, my teacher read this book to my class every day. It is exciting and possibly true. I wanted to be a hero like the kids in the story who helped sneak their country's gold out of the country when the Nazis took over. The purple border around the front cover and gold- lettered title is what I like the most about this version. I think it captures the feel of the story better than other editions, but that's just my opinion. I was happy to find a hardcover copy of a book I enjoyed as a kid. I want to share it with my children.

   The one book I remember from elementary school
I bought this book for one of my students who needed a historical novel for a book report because I loved it when I was a 6 th graders. When a book is the only one you remember from elementary school, it's worth reading.

   Wonderful Book
When I was a child, I read this book and mentioned it to my husband as he watched a Norweigian movie. When I found it on Amazon, I was surprised. I will be sharing this story with my grandsons. The book is based on a true story of Norweigan children during WWII. Even the youngest of children can have bravery. Very motivating. I hope my grandsons will be as brave as these children were.

   Based on a True Story
I remember a good read from my elementary school days. It was bought for my son to read. Well written and has nice illustrations. My son loved this story as much as I did. Teams of children sled past Nazi soldiers to bring gold out of the country and into the US. They sled the gold bricks to a secure location, then buried them into the snow, and built snowmen over the top of the bricks to mark them for a ship's crew to find and load the vessel. The end of the story has an exciting twist.

   amazing grasp of historical heroism WWII
This book should be on Amazon as well. This book is wonderful. I re- read it yesterday after reading it as a kid. It takes over two hours to read the book.

When it first came out, I wanted to read it again to refresh my memory of what happened in Norway. As it was at the beginning, it is well done and still interesting late in life.

I first read this book when I was about 10 years old. At one point in my life, I was able to get a signed copy of a book, but one of my daughters threw it away, so I love being able to read it again. I knew the wrier who lived for a short period of time in New England, and that made it even more dear to me.

I wanted to give my granddaughter the story of the children who smuggled gold out of Norway because of the impression it left on me as a 6 th grade student. The story of boys and girls helping in the war effort is an excellent adventure story.
