Welcome home, Mitford fans.to Karon's gift for illuminating the struggles that creep into everyday lives--along with a vividly imagined world.--People

The faster and more impersonal the world becomes, the more we need.Mitford.-- Cleveland Plain Dealer

After five hectic years of retirement from Lord's Chapel, Father Tim Kavanagh returns with his wife, Cynthia, from a so-called pleasure trip to the land of his Irish ancestors.

While glad to be at home in Mitford, something is definitely missing: a pulpit. But when he's offered one, he decides he doesn't want it. Maybe he's lost his passion.

His adopted son, Dooley, wrestles with his own passion--for the beautiful and gifted Lace Turner, and his vision to become a successful country vet. Dooley's brother, Sammy, still enraged by his mother's abandonment, destroys one of Father Tim's prized possessions. And Hope Murphy, owner of Happy Endings bookstore, struggles with the potential loss of her unborn child and her hard-won business.

Return to Mitford - a delight as always
Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good : The New Mitford novel's main focus was with this book. Thank you ''. I am a huge fan of Jan Karon and can not recommend her books highly enough. This book Somewhere Safe with Someone Good, I think is her best yet. Mitford continues to be a second home for me! Somewhere I can find encouragement at any time, as in living with friends and in my Christian faith, for everyday living. Everything is there humour, warmth of friendship, tears, romance, drama, old friends and new friends. I read and continue to read the Mitford books over and over again. I would have chosen to have them on a desert island. I am grateful to God for Jan Karon and the inspiration He gave her to write the Mitford books. Deirdire Collington : I am delighted to have received this book from Amazon. com.

I sit here having just finished!
Tears run my eyes and fill my cheeks. I am not sad, I am filled with the spirit and I have great gratitude. I am extremely grateful for this particular book at this particular time in my life. The author has such deep faith and such wisdom and the ability to share with the most precious words the best to build characters, to share true wisdom and abundant kindness. She is also the father of Tim. She writes the prayers, she fills up her places with the Spirit, with a love for God. In a sense, SHE IS US - WISH WE COULD BE. You have to die in order to write like she does. Merciful and helpful gift.

   Another Delightful Read!
I am a huge fan of Mitford and her Jan Karon series. Her dialogue reads like people talk in ordinary circumstances, and her use of humor is always well-placed. After finishing one of her books, you feel like you just left a family reunion and are sorry that you had to leave these delightful characters. The only books I have ever read more than once for enjoyment.

   PEACE BE UNTO YOU
I can not explain the enjoyment I receive from most of Karon's novels. For example, this one kind of puddles along one situation after another, nothing scary or wildly exciting, but human beings, dealing with whatever comes along as best they can. Father Tim continues to offer love and direction in his very often low-key way. At one point, he says, love is an act of endless forgiveness. I don 't know if one would enjoy this book unless they had read the first ones in the series, but if that is the case, give yourself a beautiful treat and start at the beginning.

I'd love to live in Mitford!
Mitford has written another novel, filled with favorite characters from that beautiful haven known as Jan Karon. I hesitate to give it a better grade, because I felt it was a little bit rushed. I would have enjoyed more about the residents getting their spray tans, not just that they all started to show bronzed. The conversation between Dooley and Lace would have been interesting too, though I see the difficulty with this, given the fact that the good father was the narrator. In all, any glimpse of Mitford and the characters who populate it are such a welcome break from this crazy world!

   Another Blessed Visit
The revival of Mitford with its colorful cast of characters was a blessing for this faithful fan. Not only were they disappointed, but were positively delighted to engage with Father Tim and his family and various friends again. Full of warmth, delightful coincidences, happy surprises and the rewards of simple faith. Here is hoping that Jan Karon may have one more in store for those of us who would like to take a country road and wind up there!

The title reflects the way I feel whenever I read a Jan Karon book.
When I started reading Mar Karon's series, I got hooked on Father Tim and the people in Mitford So when I saw she had a new book out, I was eager to read it. I read all her books and keep them for a few years just to go back home. As usual, she does an excellent job of blending in what has happened in the past and what the many characters for those who have not read the previous books, but for me it is a little tedious and I am hoping for more new material. Aside from that, I've enjoyed being with the characters again and the title is just perfect for the message that the story carries. If you are a January Karon fan, it is definitely worth a read, and for those who are new to her work and liked this book, I suggest you go back and read her previous works.

   Charming retirement resolution
Father Tim works in retirement through what he wants to do with his life. Finds happiness in doing what he enjoys rather than what others expect him to do.

BEWARE!! Copies purchased in 2021 are DEFECTIVE! PLEASE READ THIS!
I gave this a 5 - star rating so that more people would see it. The story is classic Jan Karon-I enjoyed reading what I could read from it as much as her previous books. HOWEVER, READ ON The current printing of this book has DEFECTIVE PAGES--pp. 408 and 413 are half-blank and pp. Of course, I did not discover this until after the return window was closed, so there is no way to let Amazon know. I buy a second copy from a live bookseller who actually cares about their products.

Mitford series continues, very good read again
Instead, this series includes wonderful stories about characters that you can 't wait to see what happens with them from book-to-book. There is spirituality in the novels, but people who are not religious will still enjoy these books and the wonderful stories of life, love, friendship and perseverance. I read a book and can 't wait to finish the next and order the next.
