Easy & fun

A community garden was where I started vegetable gardening last year. I own a raised bed. This book is the bible for me. His website is helpful. I did not follow Mel's formula for the dirt. I used the dirt from the community garden. Mel told me to put the garden to rest. I didn't have a lot of compost but I think it made a difference in the tomatoes this year. Square foot gardening is the way to go. We have a short growing season that gives us a variety of vegetables. It's fun.

I had a paperback edition of this book and was ...

I ordered to share the hard cover editions of the book with my friends, because I had a paperback edition. This way of gardening makes sense. It can be adapted to strips around a house or a narrower spot, such as under a net tunnel created with 10' or more PVC pipe. I'm reading between the two covers because of the gardening sense in it. The TV series that promoted it in the 80s is long gone, so you'll be lucky to find one of these books.

GREAT for EVERYONE
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I moved to a place with some land and am a beginner gardener. This is the book I wish I had bought first. You can search the author. He is an expert. He doesn't assume the reader has a knowledge of gardening, but he also doesn't assume the reader is simpleton. It is straight, factual, and doesn't get tedious in the details that other books do. The Square Foot method is very good. I will not make the same mistakes as I did last year, because I feel like I have a good garden. This book will give anyone confidence that their garden and table will be full of the right food when they want it, and in the correct quantity. Strongly recommend.

Interesting ideas
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The newer version of this book has a lot of different concepts for gardening. I got some helpful ideas from both of them. I was excited about more compact gardening, but reality is setting in like when invisible bugs eat almost every leaf.

Great Book!
Derived From Web , May 15, 2020
During the 2020 COVID19, our seller had to close. Our gift book was delayed until May, 17, 2020. They still took the time to answer my emails even after they were closed. We bought this book 9 years ago. Have used it to learn about gardening. We have fresh vegetables in our house all summer. For the winter months, I need to freeze and can some things.
