This beloved celebration of individuality is now an original movie on Disney+

A modern-day classic and New York Times bestseller from Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli. And don't miss the author's highly anticipated new novel, Dead Wednesday, coming August 2021.

Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of Stargirl, Stargirl. She captures Leo Borlock' s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first.

Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal. In this celebration of nonconformity, Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves a tense, emotional tale about the perils of popularity and the thrill and inspiration of first love.

Don't miss the sequel, Love, Stargirl, and Jerry Spinelli's latest novel, The Warden's Daughter, about another girl who can't help but stand out.

Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent. . . . No writer guides his young characters, and his readers, past these pitfalls and challenges and toward their futures with more compassion. --The New York Times

Love that it was just $6 and Amazon Prime saved ...
The daughter needs to read it. It was just $6 and I didn't have to go to the library. You know the drill. Look for it. Request an extension. Take it back. There are a lot of steps involved. Cut out all the steps. It is worth it.

This is an wonderful book! Stargirl just doesn't fit in at her ...
Wow! This is a wonderful book. Stargirl doesn't fit in at her new high school. She is a reader who loves her quirky ways. A great story for people who don't fit in all the time.

   Wonderful Story!!!
The story of Stargirl was sweet. She starts to attend high school after being home schooled. She is different, unique, and not liked very much by the rest of the students. There is a boy who likes her but struggles with peer pressure and acceptance of her non-conformity. The book is easy to read and I felt like I took something special away from me. Thank you Jerry Spinelli.

   A Classic for Growing Teens
This is a book that every teenager should read. It's one of the rare young adult fiction pieces that tells a male's perspective on growing up and what it means to make hard decisions and live with them. Stargirl is for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider, and embraces it.

   Individuality is important
Stargirl shows up in public high school and shakes things up. She cares about everyone else. There is something wrong with her according to other students. She isn't conforming. Not conforming in public school is bad. Stargirl is a short, but emotional read, told from the point of view of her boyfriend. It's not a good idea to push others to conform in school. When those pushed become what you want them to be, you never know what you might miss.

   Buy more than 1 copy!
I read this book many years ago and I couldn't put it down. I haven't found a book that captures the heart of my most creative students while showing middle school kids how people think in 25 years of teaching. It was accessible to all of the classes who read it. Adults will love it as well. I buy it for young friends because they will love it.
