One would hope that these teacher books would be useful, but sometimes they aren't. Sometimes you have to wade through a lot of information to find something useful. Not in this book. It has many examples of models that a teacher could use after reading it. It's easy to use for teachers who don't know Singapore math and for teachers who want to incorporate model drawing into their instruction. The book has models for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and multiple-operation problems and shows how to apply model drawing to whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and ratios. This is a multi-level book that could be useful for teachers from 1st grade through 6th or 7th grade.

Many students struggle with word problems. Students are using the Step by Step Model Drawing method. My English Language students are able to identify key words. This is a good way to teach students how to break down word problems. My 5th graders are loving it.
