could be more fun with colors

The printed scores look too small for a 5-year-old student on the first impression. The method seems good besides that. Updated how it was received by the student.

Perfect for starting adults

I am an adult who learns piano to learn. I first went through the free online piano nanny tutorials. I went through about the first 20 only and got bored as the videos took too long. Once I ordered this, I did a few books. Most of them claim to be for beginners, but are not. They had just tons of songs that I couldn t play. This book is actually for beginners who are just starting out and learning. I am about half way through the book and its teaching me to read the music and play with both hands.

Great for Beginners!

My 6 yo daughter started piano lessons about 2 months ago and her teacher teaches for most part straight from this book. It really spells everything out, so that even if I don 't sit through the lesson, and even though I don 't know how to read music, I can still flip through the book and help her with her practice.

this book is the best i've ever used

i am a piano teacher and want to teach as soon as possible my beginning students the concepts of note on the staff. It has quite old-fashioned pictures and song titles, which gives the student and I a good laugh at some of the lessons. But my students with this book quickly learn their notes. i highly recommend it for 4 -- 6 year old beginning students.

When I first began piano lessons in the early 1980s, I used these books. When I began teaching my daughter, I looked at many other books, but eventually came back to these, because when it comes to teaching note reading, you can 't beat them. You start playing from day one by reading the notes. I start several other students with these books as well. You are so loved!
