Very Strange & Myopic
Derived From Web , Sep 4, 2021
I walked a quarter of the way through this book before I decided to stop reading. The author had some good advice on listening with patience and creating an environment where all feelings are okay, not just the positive ones. Then the author lost completely when she started pitting mother and son against each other, talking about how your son will go to war with you. This is not the experience that any of my friends or relatives with sons have had, and it seems to the author has a very myopic view. Doesn 't seem like a book is only narrowly-based, more on their own research opinions and experiences. I was looking for an empowering book on how to better understand emotional life boys in order to raise emotionally intelligent sons, but this is not the book! If you're looking for that, Raising Cain is probably more along this line. Honestly, waste your time, don 't waste it.

Helpful!
Derived From Web , Apr 12, 2021
This book is by far one of the best books I read about rising boys. I read some negative reviews about this book. Every boy is different in every family, there is no exact method for raising a boy. So you leave and you take what you like from this book, but it really does come from a loving heartfelt place. My son is still a toddler, but I feel that this book helped me prepare for his future and how to deal with certain things in our lives that may come up.

Review

I usually don 't write reviews so bare with me. This book has kind of found me. I began to feel hopeless, guilty, and lost with parenting. Without being too personal, I am a night shift nurse and have primary custody of my son, who is 5. Thank you ''.

Timely Wisdom
Derived From Web , Sep 4, 2018
I had no idea that the boys were so impressionable. They really do need to feel loved and secure by us being confident and happy with our lives. I don 't have biological sons, but reading this helped me to understand the men and boys in my life on a deeper, more compassionate level. Read this book if you’re looking for wisdom and practical help in raising kind, self-less, strong, brave, confident young men.

lil disclaimer so. I am 39 and I bought this book as a prank for my mother on Mother's Day... I had a laugh, but she read it and said, this was really a great read... she already did well with me, but I would recommend it to mothers of young boys trying to become the better men in this world.

Every mother needs to read this book. Fundamentals about how to speak and behave effectively around your sons. Some things we do, we might think is good for our sons, but it can, in reality, stunt their development and wound them when they are adults. Easy to read.
