Book Overview

An unforgettable coming of age novel for fans of 13 Reasons Why, It's Kind of a Funny Story, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Fifteen-year-old Jeff wakes up on New Year's Day to find himself in the hospital--specifically, in the psychiatric ward. Despite the bandages on his wrists, he's positive this is all some huge mistake. Jeff is perfectly fine, perfectly normal; not like the other kids in the hospital with him.

But over the course of the next forty-five days, Jeff begins to understand why he ended up here--and realizes he has more in common with the other kids than he thought.

With a sprinkling of dark humor and a full measure of humanness, Suicide Notes is quirky, surprising, and a riveting read. --Ellen Hopkins, author of The You I've Never Known and Love Lies Beneath

Like the very best teen novels, Suicide Notes is both classic and edgy, timeless and provocative. --Brent Hartinger, author of Geography Club

Makes a powerful emotional impact. --Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Jeff's wit and self-discovery are refreshing, poignant, and, at times, laugh-out-loud funny. --School Library Journal

Suicide Notes...A Love Note to Kids
There are too many children in the world who choose Jeff's path, at the temptation of suicide in 15 confused about relationships, sexuality, and their place in the world. SUICIDE NOTES is a love letter to those children by the author Michael Thomas Ford, who offers a ringing message of hope in the portraying of a boy's journey of self-discovery. But what is special about SUICIDE NOTES is the universality of Jeff's feelings. More children than not do not attempt suicide, instead suffering silently about disappointing parents, failing to measure up, being abandoned by friends, and never fitting in. I've worried about all those things. SUICIDE NOTES was a look back, suggesting how far I have come and a reminder that when doubts are still present, they may be considered invitations to recheck inside and discover a little more. Craig Bennett Hallenstein is the author of DOLPHIN '', a psychological thriller in New Orleans.
   A fun and quick read.
Despite the subject matter, very funny and upbeat.
   love it!
I love it absolutely ''. Fell was in love with Michael's writing style. It was important, but brought up funny topics like suicide and how to come to terms with your sexuality.
   Great Read
Since the first page, I have loved this book, it is now one of my favorites on my shelf.
   Great book
Not at all what I expected. I did not see homosexuality coming from the boy. Definitely a riveting read and eye opening, as well as well written, just be prepared for a rough ride.
   What's inside must come out.
Trying to figure out how you feel while under pressure to meet your parents'expectations is a pain. Add in losing your only support system and suddenly life can feel overwhelming. When Jeff wakes up in a long-term mental health treatment center, it takes him almost 3 months to figure out what is really behind his sarcastic defense mechanisms. Michael Thomas Ford threads together sensitive issues that confront today's young adults with compassion, humor and pathos. Suicide Notes is written to be easily accessible to young readers and old, and should be mandatory reading.
   Your not alone
This is a great book, I do recommend reading it, it is well written and once you stop, you read it in 2 days because I couldn t stop. Consider this book ( it may make u feel less alone and kinda sad that was the end, I really want to know how the main character is today.
This was a story that I did not expect to fall in love with. This is a very sensitive topic for me, as a survivor of suicide loss. It was written so well that I found myself invested in these characters! Beautifully done and poignant, a masterfully reminder that we may all have our demons to fight, but life is worth the fight! If you or someone you know are feeling suicidal, please get help! There has been a ton of progress in the treatment, and is not shameful! You are wonderful and your life is worth living! , ''
